The Carne Guisada Tuesday lunch was ah— mazing. We did everything but lick the plate it was so tasty. And yes, the flour tortillas were as tasty as other reviewers have mentioned. Yummo!

First visit for lunch and would definitely go again. Started with the spicy, tangy salsa and mediocre tortilla chips...they felt a little stale. I had the Mole lunch special with Mexican rice and black beans. All were very tasty! Servers were friendly and attentive. It's a small space and I can see it getting crowded or having a wait. Decoration is basic and casual, but not quite comfortable. Good food for the price!

Come here to get chilaquiles and online recommdation said everything is house made. But the plate is kinda small. Charge extra for chicken and egg and there were barely any chicken on it. I ordered chilaquiles, not beans and potatoes. Chips and salsa should be main components on the plate. Look at my picture.

They make their own tortillas which is nice. It is a little bit chewy like Yemeni bread. But I think the plate should be bigger for $18

Huevos rancheros best anywhere! Authentic and the tortillas remind me of the ones my mom made by hand. Must try.

The sopa de fideo, (Vermicelli Soup) is comforting, light and GOOD. Never had fideos like this before and I love stopping at Consuelo's Kitchen for this comfort bowl of fideos. Not heavy. Just right.

Best breakfast burrito in Austin. I get one every Sunday and it never fails. Great flour tortillas. Not many places like this left.

The place is small, but cute and very homey. The service is very good and attentive. The unfortunate thing is the food has no spice and no flavor. It simply isn't worth the money which is sad because this place has been around for so long and clearly it has a customer base. Unless you are very spice averse or you just like sort of bland food then this place is just not going to be for you. There are far too many great options in the Austin area to end up as disappointed in a meal as my girlfriend and I were when we went here. Her barbacoa was flavorless and on the dry side. My enchiladas were also very bland for something that has ancho chiles in it. The mango in the mango jicama salad is canned and you can taste it. The picadillo really has no real flavor either. All in all, there's not just a lack of spice and picante, there's an overall lack of spices in general which led to very bland and boring food.

I picked up a breakfast burrito when I had a case of the Sunday morning heavies. I am from San Diego sorry so I can’t comment on size (still is fine with the price being in lower end), but this thing was the real deal.

Props to the team over there, and though I was take out the dining room was a vibe. The food was fast, fresh and delicious. The guy even complimented my Texas trans rights shirt so 6/5 if possible

Homemade hole in the wall spot with great flavors, counter service, and a clean simple interior. I enjoyed the huevos rancheros with homemade flour tortilla and added bacon. All the items on the plate were great except the potatoes which were French fries cooked in a basic way. Service was mostly self serve (coffee) and you pay when you order. I plan to stop by again to try some of the lunch specials. Breakfast and lunch only.

I visited Consuelo's because I love checking out small Mom and Pop restaurants that have been a part of local Austin history. Their place is super clean and well maintained. The experience starts from the moment you pull into their parking lot. They have parking in the back, but I liked pulling in literally right off Lamar Blvd by the front door. When you walk into the dining room, it screams adorably authentic. I was greeted by a very friendly lady who took my order and allowed me to practice speaking Spanish. The food came out right away. I recommend their huevos rancheros. I loved the delicious ranchero sauce so much I got extra. It isn't overly spice or salty. They let you serve yourself coffee from a big thermos. They constantly check it to make sure it is full. I also enjoy being able to grab my own mug off the shelf above the coffee dispenser. It just feels homey! And best of all was that they steamed my milk to add to my coffee. The coffee tasted a 9/10 on the flavor. Corn tortillas tasted home made. Fun time!
