Probably one of the worst Mexican food restaurants ever. 3 fajita tacos with meat I think my dog might eat, inside tacos meat and onions!

Waited for a while through drive through window. Slow service. Ordered 4 breakfast tacos. Cheese, eggs, tortillas all were cold. Would never go back.

I got the fajita nachos with a bowl of tortilla chicken soup. Good Lord those were some of the best nachos I've ever had in my life. 100% you cannot go wrong. They were out in something like 5 minutes and I almost needed a wheelchair to get out of the place! So good I mean so good. The waitress was pleasant I will definitely be supporting this business. Fantastic food.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Las Palapas restaurant and I must say, my experience was made all the more enjoyable by our server, Karina. From the moment we were seated, Karina greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home.Throughout our meal, Karina was attentive to our needs and always went above and beyond to ensure that we were enjoying our dining experience. She was knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations on dishes to try. What really stood out to me was Karina's genuine kindness and hospitality. She made us feel like valued guests and her warm demeanor was infectious. It's clear that she takes pride in her job and truly cares about the satisfaction of her customers.Overall, I highly recommend Las Palapas restaurant and specifically, Karina as a server. Her world-class hospitality and sweet personality made for an unforgettable dining experience.

The food and service were excellent. We shared the fajitas for 2 and it was so much food. Karina was our server and she was great. The chicken fajitas were really good and we have enough to take home for at least one more meal, too.

Authentic Texas Mexican cuisine! Dine is best. Close to both Lake Travis and Lake Austin and brand new to Austin Summer 2023 ! Breakfast served all day. Margaritas are 3.99 every day and 2.99 on Tue /Thur. Live Music every Thur / Fri. Family friendly. Ample parking. Extremely clean. Consistently fresh.

Had a nice time the staff were super friendly greeted as soon as we entered there was no waiting time to be seated the waiter came to our table to see if we had any questions or needed help with anything I wanted a tostada but was informed it was on the menu as a chalupa I also ordered a steak taco y'all the steak was super tender and the rice was delicious, no take home container for me, the frozen magarita was to die for absolutely loved it everything is reasonably priced.

I would give it 3.5 ⭐ if possible. Las Palapas at Lake Travis is a decent Mexican restaurant with a few strengths and even more weaknesses. While the food can be hit or miss, there are some dishes worth mentioning. My husband enjoys the taco salad with extra beef fajita, and I personally like the LP Super Bowl with mixed veggies instead of rice and beans. We also love their green salsa, but it's not brought out unless requested. That being said, some aspects of the restaurant could be improved. The portion sizes have gotten smaller since we first started coming, and we now have to request double meat for a decent portion. The upcharge for substitutions and add-ons adds up quickly, with each side substitution costing $1.49 and each topping costing more as well. It feels a bit excessive to charge for every little item, including onions at $0.15 per serving. For example, my LP Super Bowl was $8.99 + $1.49 to sub veggies for rice + $1.49 to sub veggies for beans + $2.99 for beef fajita 2 oz + $0.15 for onions = $15.11 for a relatively small bowl of food. They also charge inconsistent amounts for everything. For example my husband also added more beef fajita to his meal and had an upcharge of $1.99 for beef fajita 4oz. How does that make any sense? My stepson orders the fajita plate, but it comes without cheese and sour cream, both of which are over $1 upcharge each. There isn't a fajitas for 1 option, so that's really the only way to get a smaller portion of fajitas, just sadly without those toppings. The food, like their pricing, is also inconsistent. Sometimes the fajita meat is tender, while other times it's tough and gristly. Sometimes the flavor is great and other times the meal is fairly bland. Sometimes portions are laughable while sometimes they are normal, you just never know. The quality of the food varies, but there are definitely times when it is exceptional and deserves more recognition than my 3⭐ review. It just sucks that they don't nail the flavor every time. The service at Las Palapas is also hit or miss. This is honestly my biggest complaint. Sometimes we are left waiting for long periods without being helped, while other times we feel rushed by impatient servers. For the most part the customer service here is really bad. Some of the staff are very impersonal and make the entire experience simply transactional. However, during our most recent visit, James provided exceptional service and made our experience a positive one. It was the first time we have actually had service worth mentioning here, and we have been a handful of times.Overall, Las Palapas is an okay place to visit if you're in the area. It has some dishes that can accommodate various diets like low carb/keto, but be prepared to pay for every substitution and topping. The service can also be inconsistent, but with a little luck, you might have a good experience like we did with James. It's worth noting that they offer a commendable first responder discount, which is really cool of them.I feel like inconsistent is the best way to describe this place. ??‍♀️ While there are times when the service and the food are really good, there is room for improvement. It's clear that this place has potential and with some additional effort it could be a lot better.

Tried the seafood platter with grilled cod and shrimp and the taco salad with chicken. Except for the shrimp, everything was under seasoned and very mild. Even the sweet tea was under brewed and not good.

Food: food was good once it arrived which took over 45 minutes to get and they were not even busy. I had to ask for coffee, refills, napkins and hot sauce. We had a total of four different servers attend to our table and none of them knew what the other was doing. There was 6 top sitting on the patio and all their breakfast plates did not get served at the same time. When i asked for a coffee refill when the young lady came to our table i asked if there was a problem in the kitchen she looked at me and said "there's a problem?" I said YES service is slow, inconsistent and non one seems to care. I told her this is breakfast, it should not take 40+ minutes to scramble eggs and make two breakfast tacos.Other guests arrived and got seated and they soon learned that there were issues with service. Finally a two top table asked to speak to a manager and he walks out and speaks to the table I'm assuming he apologized. If your restaurant is having kitchen or any issues please inform your guests that your food is going to take longer than normal and then keep all guests updated and then at the very least offer some sort of discount to ensure your guests do not post a negative comment like I am. As we were walking out they "please come back." I yelled back that I won't be.They were also trying to run a drive thru window at the same time. And the entire staff needs to be retrained on customer service.

Las Palapas is my favorite in San Antonio/Austin for quick or sit down Mexican. First off, the flour tortillas are incredible, #1 of any. Exactly the right thickness, softness, durability, taste and doughyness. On this recent trip the steak fajita taco couldn't survive intact before I took the picture. The steak was melt-in-the-mouth tender. All tacos are winners. Even the salsa and chips are a perfect pairing and very fresh. Queso is top-notch too. Food appears fast, and the service was great. And I'll always carry out at least a dozen flour tortillas of course... to last until the next time I return.

I had dined at Las Palapas in San Antonio many times over the years. When I found out there was one in the Austin area, I was anxious to try it. The plate of food looks really good and almost like what I remember in San Antonio, but the flavoring was not the same. It seem to be a much less tasty version of what I could get at Las Palapas in San Antonio. Perhaps it had to do with them being short-staffed? Not really sure. Likely will wait until I’m in San Antonio again before I visit a Las Palapas.
