I’m from the northeast and was visiting Austin. Randomly went to this place by our air bnb and it was a great decision. Possibly the best street racks I’ve ever had and I’ve been to LA and Mexico. Highly recommend and they are open late

Recommended by bff sugarplum, and he did not miss with this one!

I stopped by Las Trancas for a quick bite and ended up having a full-on flavor experience. I grabbed the chicken tacos on flour tortillas, and wow, they were perfectly seasoned, juicy, and hit that tender-but-charred sweet spot. The toppings were simple but bold: lime, onions, cilantro, and a spicy green salsa that brought some heat without overpowering the flavors. Every bite felt fresh and full of intention.

Yes, there was a line (a good sign), but they were so efficient. You can tell they’ve got it down to a science, smooth, fast, and friendly service that keeps everything moving.

10/10 would go again, and next time I’m definitely trying more than just the chicken. Thanks, sugarplum! You know what’s up.

Authentic, Flavorful, and Fast!

Taqueria Trancas is a true hidden gem in Austin! We tried the torta Cubana, carnitas tacos, lengua tacos, and al pastor, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold, the meats were tender and well-seasoned, and the portions were generous. The torta Cubana was packed with layers of flavor, while the tacos had that perfect balance of freshness and richness.

Beyond the amazing food, the service was quick and efficient, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re craving authentic tacos or a hearty torta, this spot does it right. Definitely worth a visit (or several)!

Great location, awesome atmosphere! Food was really good, but for my taste a bit on the greasy side. No big deal, but just a little less would be awesome. Prices are reasonable also.

Food was not flavorful, super dry, and salsas are NEEDED! FYI, the salsas are not very flavorful. Gringo tacos for sure. If you’re looking for authentic, look elsewhere. Aside from that, it’s a really chill spot. The service was the best thing. Except we asked to go to the restroom just for her to act scared of us and locked the door on the truck when we passed by.

these were the most mid tacos i’ve had in austin. we got a asada burrito & there was barely any meat, the burrito was filled with lettuce & beans. the tacos itself was filled with meat but it was dry. the salsa was lowkey spicy but that wasn’t a big deal. overall would not recommend!
