Childhood diner. Very upset to see it going under because of COVID-19. Very sad.

Get the mag mud, migas, and an Elvis pancake! This place is an ATX classic! The ambiance and character of this place is unbeatable! I prefer the west side of the restaurant for its classic diner charm, but the west side is great for evening dining! Overall, it-is-bomb!

Honestly I was surprised and impressed how good of a meal we had here. I came in fully expecting a typical diner experience (like huge menu with lots of mediocre food) but what we got was definitely a level above that. The artichoke Alfredo with fresh spinach linguine was delicious and the pasta really tasted fresh. Given the low price and hefty portion, I was more than satisfied and did not feel like quality was sacrificed. I've had worse at true Italian restaurants actually. My boyfriend ordered a nightly special consisting of Dijon chicken cutlets and mash. It was good, homemade, but a little burnt on the bottom. We saw everyone else ordering stacks of pancakes so we had to end with a single chocolate chip pancake lol. No regrets it was amazing!! Wish they gave a pat of good butter rather than the packets but what can you really expect right?

I'll drive from Katy just to come here! They have a huge selection of food and it's always great! Service is usually pretty good but sometimes slow if they're busy. Also not very big so it can fill up quickly, but the water is usually not very long.

Definite gem of the Austin area. The breakfast special of Chicken and the Egg with cornbread jalapeño pancake under eggs and spicy shredded chicken was so good! Really unique. It would take a long time to try all of the delicious food this place has to offer.

Visited Austin recently with a friend so we decided to stop at Magnolia's for lunch and I was honestly very disappointed. The service there was terrible. The minute we walked in we were greeted with attitude. We had to wait 20 mins for our server to even come to our table to get our drink order let alone food order and keep in mind this is a small place and it wasn't busy at the time. When it was time to get the check there was no one around. It was an annoying and awful experience.

And you will love it because the breakfast food is great, the service exceptional, and the place does not take itself too seriously. This is an Austin "must go." Go there!

Awesome joint. Usually decent for people watching and even better for the food. This or the Congress location. If we make an Austin trip we're probably making a run to Magnolia Cafe.

Great place, our server was really nice, full of energy, and very helpful. Good was good, all around a nice experience.

Out server was incredible. Loved her service. Food was pretty good. Little things that stood out: Sticky dirty menus, wet floor, and thick nasty ceiling fan dust eyebrows on the blades. Easy stuff to clean. Wish this could do 4.5 stars.

Westbrook was a wonderful waiter. We sat at the bar & got to see everything coming out. It looked AMAZING. chocolate chip pancake, loaded queso & the turkey reuben. always a great brunch stop!

Good vibes. Great place to chill out and read the Chronicle with a cup of coffee.

I'm old Austin, and so is mags. North or south, Magnolia Cafe is the original post-night-out recharge spot. My regular is mag queso to share, hibiscus tea and the mag enchiladas in lemon cream sauce. As I've grown up here, mags has been everything from a wild-night ending to a first-date spot, and I have NEVER, I mean NEVER! had a bad time there. The wait staff, the chefs, the other patrons...Mags is one of our last real treasures, and I love it from the bottom of my heart.
