Is it authentic; Yes! Is it good; No!. The coolest thing about this spot is the tablet ordering system that sends orders directly to the kitchen.
We ordered 2 egg drop soups, scallion pancake, and chicken dumplings, General Taos chicken. The soup had a crap load of gluten in it as it was gummy. It was not just broth. The scallion pancake was greasy and the steamed dumplings came out dry. The chicken was definitely large chunks, moist, covered in sauce but it was thick and unflavored. I came for a day date. I was impressed but it was palpable however my date hated it. He simply refused after the egg drop soup. I tried chilling oil too but it didn't work.

Cedar Park has very few decent Chinese food spots, so happy to have found Mala chili. Things that stand out are the expansive and creative menu and good portions on the appetizers.
They do have many of the typical dishes (sweet and sour pork, orange beef, etc,) but they also have many things we've never seen that we'd like to come back to try. And they don't skimp on orders like dumplings.
Service is great as well.

This is the best Asian restaurant in Austin! They have Szechuan and regular Chinese. The portions are generous and so are the proteins in each dish. They are very accomodating and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is simple, but the food is what counts.

Please ensure you arrive by 8:45 PM, even though closing time is 9:30 PM. Even if you call to confirm, you won’t be seated after that. Very disappointing.

I only came because I was told we would be accommodated if we arrived before 9:00 PM. We did arrive before 9:00 PM, yet we were still denied seating. Ultimately, it’s your decision, but had this been properly communicated, I would have driven much more peacefully. I appreciate you taking this feedback seriously.

I had the mapo tofu and it was the best I have ever had. A unique spice that is insanely addictive. So much so that it is my second time having it this week. You have to try this place.

I just ordered beef noodles on Uber Eats. There is no single piece of beef in it. Only 2-3 mini piece I can't even call it beef. Because I ordered extra noodle they sent me 2 box of plain noodle and soup base. Is that how you treat customers in the store too? Or it's just because it's take away. I paid 26$ for plain noodle and soup base. This is very disrespectful and unacceptable. Definitely the worst order I ever received!

I went to this place to try something different. A white couple walked in right infront of me and were seated instantly. I stood at the door awaiting to be seated. There were several tables open. The same server that sat the previous couple walked by me like I was a ghost. I stood there for 10 minutes and never even got an acknowledgement. To say I was pissed off is an understatement. Absolutely unacceptable treatment.
