Excellent tacos in a cozy, welcoming corner building with a short menu that still provides so many options. You can pick the ingredients for your tacos from a long list of veggies and meats. On first visit I enjoyed most the smoked Elgin sausage and the incredible papa ranchera (French fries with salsa). I look forward to trying more combinations!
They have a few tables and counter seats inside. Outside there is a small free parking lot supplemented by free street parking.
A review I read, probably from do512:
At Marcelino’s on the East Side, the tacos are scoop-and-serve—made assembly-line right in front of you. But Marcelino’s is so consistently busy that they’re hustling and preparing food non-stop. You can get a basic bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast taco, and it’ll be far superior to most you can get around town—but Marcellino’s system allows them to have many more options that you don’t see often, like repollo asado (grilled cabbage), calabacitas (squash), rajas (poblanos in cream), smoked Elgin sausage, and the incredible papa ranchera (French fries tossed in salsas). We think about the papa ranchera a lot. Also, at Marcelino’s, the cheese isn’t grated—they peel a slice off of a huge stack and slap it onto a warmed tortilla, where it immediately melts

The sausage and egg breakfast tacos are amazing. The salsa verde also has good flavor. My big back will definitely be back 😎

I'm disappointed in this business not having a phone number to reach out to them. I ordered 2 tacos since this was my first time there. I ordered a beef tip taco with gravy it was pretty bland but salt, pepper, and plenty of lime juice made it bearable. Then my second taco was a pork chop taco with rice and beans on the inside. The pork chop was over cooked and dried out with no type of seasoning. After I added salt, pepper, and lime I began to eat the taco. By bite three I knew something was wrong! My stomach instantly bloated, began belching uncontrollably and vomiting for over an hour. I have called the specialty EMS to my home for an IV to keep from dehydrating. Hopefully I won't have to go to the ER. Before calling the EMT I tried, zofran (3), zantac (2), pickle juice, and mints(6). Nothing is settling my stomach. I can't even get in touch with the restaurant to let them know that something isn't right with the food. I was hoping for so much more because after doctoring the beef tip taco I really enjoyed it. But I honestly don't enjoy the after effects. I feel horrible!!

Oh my God
The corn tortillas are delicious and the staff is super friendly.
Marcelino’s in Austin is a taco lover’s dream—authentic, flavorful, and unforgettable. Each taco is packed with perfectly seasoned meats, fresh tortillas, and vibrant toppings that hit just right. The vibe is friendly and unpretentious, like your favorite neighborhood spot should be.
Pro tip: make sure to get the Elgin sausage, rajas, and papas rancheros—they’re absolute standouts. If you know, you know. This place is the real deal.
Get taco but need more in them for the price I pay...but over all great taco
Good food and service.
We were told by locals this was a must stop for birria tacos and this establishment hit the mark. We met the original owners granddaughter and she was so friendly. She pointed us in the right direction when ordering. Food was so delicious. We highly recommend this location to anybody visiting and wants great Mexican food.
