Maudies is my favorite Tex mex in Austin after Chuys. Soooo good

Location is great, staff are great, food is meh.I get that this is Tex-Mex and the food will consequently more American and "bland" than other traditional Mexican places. However, I feel like each time I eat here I slap myself for expecting better. The queso is basically melted Velveta. Some of the tacos are just greasy ground beef with lettuce and tomatoes thrown on top. The soup I've tried tastes like a bland mix of canned ingredients all stirred together. The restaurant itself is well kept and in a great location, with a lovely patio. I've also had a great experience with the staff overall. They work hard to make sure you are happy.I just wish I could love this place. It's close to home and I love the kind of food it promises. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed each time I visit because of the kitchen.

I love Maudie's! But beware, this isn't where to go if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, or have high standards when it comes to Tex-Mex.

One star. Who, in their right mind, puts american cheese on a breakfast taco?? Lost 2 stars for that. The other two because the dude hung up on me. I'm not going back. Pretty much zero stars because I HAVE to give one.

I'm giving Maudie's two stars simply because the waitstaff was awesome. Not because of the food. To be clear, the service was great, the restaurant was nice, but the food was very and I mean very .....how do I put it....DULL. That being said, I understand some kitchens are never at their best between the lunch and dinner rush (which is when I was there) but how do they stay in business with this food??? I felt cheated out of $75. ?

I classify places like this as "white people tex-mex". Tastes and vibes different than your every day taqueria. You know what I mean. Maudie's is pretty average for that classification but it doesn't feel like it belongs in a mall too much.

Always very good. Love the nachos and tortilla soup here. Really solid margaritas as well

Good food at a reasonable price.

Tony was great, helped a giant table full of kids and got us everything quick and friendly. Always nice to find a place that will handle a big group family friendly.

My grandson’s third birthday party was held at Maudie’s on the patio last weekend. The facility, food, and service were impeccable. Everyone, both children and adults, had a great time. Thank you!

Great food. Even better drinks! Fast and friendly service. We'll be back, multiple times for sure.

I took a friend here for dinner because our first choice was closed. Our waiter was really sweet and very accommodating at the beginning, helping me with some dietary needs because I had never been there before. About halfway through dinner he got annoying because he kept bugging us and we were trying to talk.

Really salty microwaved enchiladas. The best part of my meal was the free tortilla chips served when we first came in, the rest was disappointing.

Food is terrible, but it's a great place to take kids to. Staff is very friendly and accommodating of children of all ages. Great place to grab a drink with your kid or baby and feel comfortable. Again, staff have always been amazing!

Food was ok, drinks were weak (Mexican martinis tasted like juice!!), but WOW service was so bad! We were outside which slowly emptied out, and I think our server forgot to put our order in for multiple rounds. A manager never checked in so I couldn’t ask for assistance. I’ll be back because the location is great, and the food is usually good. But I may avoid cocktails!
