Perfect dining experience for our group celebrating a birthday! Ordered many plates of appetizers salads & main courses & not one disappointed! The dishes were amazing, especially the zucchini pancakes, salads & shrimp dishes! Can't wait to return
The food here is amazing! Particularly the branzino. Great atmosphere outside. But of course only when the weather is good. As far as inside, it is way too loud every time you come in here. This restaurant needs to invest in some acoustic panels to deaden the sound. It took almost 1 hour to get the octopus. Not sure why the service is bad but it's been very slow here and so has the food coming to the table over and over. Then the cook or the chef tells the waitress confuses already sent out when it wasn't. Then the waitress tells me she's going to take you off of this off the bill, and she never did. Also, when making the reservation if you don't show up they charge you a $25 per person fee. I called to let them know that I was going to be late potentially up to 30 minutes because traffic was at a dead stop. The young lady who I spoke to simply regurgitated to policy which says they will hold your table for 15 minutes. After prodding the conversation she finally admitted that if were seated outside it shouldn't be a problem. Can't quite understand why the communication is so poor and she couldn't have asked the right questions and taken care of the matter over the telephone. Whenever calling here, it's been the same story. Please train your young staff on how to communicate.
Its was extremely loud - their sound management is bad to start with h then bunch of overly drunk large tables and they decided to blast a DJ !!! Good was alright- nothing memorable in regards to spice or flavor. High check for the value Dont know when we'd be back
Inside is very loud. The patio is nice. Service struggled to keep up with the volume of a busy Saturday night. But the food is excellent and the ambiance reminds you of Greece. We'll be back.
What a way to celebrate a birthday with family and friends! The service is always gracious and professional, and the ambience and the food are authentic and excellent. I also appreciate the thoughtful wine list, which always results in a satisfying venture into Greek wines.
Our food was outstanding!!! But we could not hear each other at all after they cranked up the sound system. It was miserable. We were even outside! We were so looking forward to catching up with dear friends but the last 30 minutes were just too loud! This was our second visit this year because the food is so good! But I'm not sure we could go again. So disappointing!
Host was very nice, bartender good while we waited for our table, apps were very good, food runners were very friendly, entrees were solid B+. All that said, the service itself at the table was atrocious. Waited ~30-40 minutes after ordering apps for the waiter to come back at all (empty drinks, hadn't ordered entrees yet). Same thing happened later in the meal - all alcohol and water was gone and nobody noticed. We just sat there wondering when they'd be back. Overall left confused - what could've been a great meal ended up underwhelming because of so many basic things not happening. Will go elsewhere next time.
This restaurant is incredible! Impeccable service... our server was knowledgeable, charming, and exceptional. My friend and I shared several plates, including the chicken souvlaki; baked feta and honey, meatballs, traditional salad, and the eggplant chips. Everything was perfection. The chicken was so tender and delicious, some of the best souvlaki I've ever had. The space is so beautiful and I truly felt like I was transported to Greece. Highly recommend!!
The food and drinks are really amazing but the service is so inconsistent. Our friendly waiter turned into the bartender and then our dinner order was incorrect as lots different servers were assigned to our table. After lots of waiting and asking, one of the entrees was brought with dessert. No apologies or offers to compensate..
This is seriously awesome and authentic Greek food (I'm Greek) - everything (spanakopita, zucchini patties, ceviche, branzino, sea bream, lamb kabobs and lemon potatoes) was fantastically delicious and the portions were large for sharing. The Mastika cocktail was yum! However, they got confused and thought the restaurant was a club. There was a DJ and very loud, very bass-full tunes pumping throughout dinner on the beautiful patio. Two of my guests left with headaches and if I had brought anyone older, no way could they hear the conversation. I don't understand what they were going for but I absolutely won't be back before checking about the entertainment first.
Restaurantji Recommends
horrible service. The waiter was a young boy totally lost and confused. It took 1.15 for our appetizers to arrive, we had two rounds of drinks waiting. Nothing was comped. never going back
I went there with a group of friends. The personnel was not able to handle a big group. Giving order was total mess up. We were about to begin our main dishes when we were told to go out because of a fire. So eveybody went out. Waited about 40 mins and one of my friends asked when it will be over. But she received a very rude reply. Then we decided to go to another restaurant but, our cars were stuck in the parking lot since fir truck blocked the way out. Then we decided to use Uber. Anyway our overall experience was so bad.
Great food with friendly service in a fun, lively environment. Lots of background noise, so may not be great for people with hearing issues, but since 90% of the patrons are in their 20's-40's, that's not usually a problem. This is my new favorite restaurant in Austin.
More of an “instagram” place. Good for pictures and to feel like you're in Greece. However, better options around for food, like Aba or smaller local restaurants. The lambs chops were tiny, kebab was way sweet and not seasoned well. Extremely loud and parking is a mess.
I will definitely return to Yamas again. The food is authentic and the alcohol selections are terrific, especially the wine. My friend who was with me was recently in Greece and he thought the food was better at Yamas. I had the Yamas chips with tzatziki which was pretty salty, but very crunchy and delicious. I also had the moussaka and it was great. It's super loud and noisy, but it's a lively place. Christos who is the owner visited our table and he is a very personable guy. I can't wait to try more of their menu.
