This is our second time visiting this establishment and both times same guy & I have left feeling like a total idiot. I am trying to educate myself on mezcals so I asked what mexcals are bottom shelf or “well” that I should avoid and he immediately got defensive and literally started arguing with me while I was just trying to have a conversation.. I understand that this guy has been in the mezcal business for a long time but customer service is NOT his field. Saturday at 8:30 on a date feeling like I just pissed off the bartender is not a vibe.

This hidden gem is accessible above Whisler’s via the outside staircase to your immediate right after entering the courtyard. The bar serves mezcal ONLY. But the atmosphere is very unique and the selection is incredible. Even if you know nothing about mezcal or know a flavor profile of your favorite but don’t recall the name the bartender is super knowledgeable enough to steer you in the right direction. I was very pleased with the choice the bartender recommended. I just wish there was a bit more seating for friends. But in all a great dive to hangout for mezcal.

Awesome and unique experience to grab a neat mezcal drink with a couple of friends.The bartender pours single shots of any mezcal (they have a wide variety of classic mezcals to unique and rare mezcals); if you don’t know what to get, the bartender will pick something out that’s right for you. And to bring out the flavors of the mezcal, you’ll get an orange with dried worms / salt / spice to eat.Highly recommend this as a cozy unique spot to highlight Austin’s bar scene.

If you’re wanting an experience, come here and make sure Sean is the one helping you out. Came here on a whim with my wife and was floored by the service provided. Sean was knowledgeable, passionate, and just genuinely amazing to talk to. 10/10 recommend if you’re visiting Austin and enjoy a Mezcal experience, or if you’re looking to impress a date. We will be back.P.S. Sean deserves a raise. Seriously, he’s incredible.

Super interesting concept and intimate experience if you're looking for mezcal in Austin. The bar itself is inside and immediately upstairs after entering the larger Whisler's bar. Mezcaleria has very limited space at the bar, and when we went it was extremely hot and dark inside (the bottles were barely readable.) Service was also slow - however I will say that once we did get service the mezcal we tried was delicious and the prices not too bad.This was a cool spot, but be prepared to wait and likely stand while trying to get your eventual mezcal pours.

Man I love Mezcal, and if u do to then this place is a must if your in Austin. Ive never been to a place like it. Super small, super chill n the smoothest, most flavorful Mezcal I've had. Very limited hours so plan accordingly. U wont regret it!
