Relaxing and top tier. Much better atmosphere for enjoying bbq. Friendly staff. The brisket is some of the best I’ve had. The Mac and cheese and potato salad are unique. Bbq as it’s meant to be experienced, in the backyard, with a cold drink, with shade and sun readily available. Saddle Up close by to get a cold drink.

Finally Texas BBQ brisket that is worthy of the name! Since I've lived in the Houston area over the last decade I have been bitterly disappointed by the BBQ I had tried so when I happened to be going to Austin I researched long and hard about where to get good BBQ and landed on Micklethwait as the best likely candidate to try. And boy did I pick the right place.The brisket, sausage and smoked turkey I tried were all amazingly good, flavorful, tender and juicy! Out of state family actually ordered a pound of brisket to take on the flight home with them. My leftovers made an EXCELLENT sandwich even after a couple of days.Sides are all scratch made and excellent. Chili beans were fantastic as was the red cabbage lemon poppy slaw. The pickles and bread slices were scratch made and delicious as well.I wish these guys would give some lessons to the pit masters where I live!

I wouldn’t go here for a vegan feed, but I would go here for the best barbecue we have had in Texas so far. Great flavours, friendly staff and a great little setting outside.Vegetarian options: Not much in the way of vegetarian options, but let’s be honest that’s not why you are here is it?

BBQ and sides are okay and good. Bread could be a lot better. Service is not the nicest and some of the slowest. Why does it take so long to get your food from a bbq place when everything is already cooked? Just serve it up and get on with it!
Want to beat the rush of Franklins and have just as good if not better BBQ? Come here! Great layout to eat outside and they have a nice beer selection. Perfect setup for a BBQ joint, worth a short wait! The sausage was fantastic and the ends were our favorite. We will be back!

This place is killer! My family and I went on a Saturday around 11:30am. It wasn’t busy, and there wasn’t a line. We got brisket, pork ribs, sausage pork shoulder along with slaw, potato salad, and mac and cheese. Everything was fire!! I thought everything was really good. The pork shoulder isn’t something we usually get, but was similar to ribs. The sides were yummy too!
