Loved the drinks, and the menu was adorable

It was super cool a few years ago and I brought everyone I knew here to enjoy this unique and amazing experience. But this time it was very lackluster. We intentionally chose a cocktail that is made tableside and it was just a young chick haphazardly making what she called a regular run of the mill cocktail, no smoke no muddling just, “well here’s this like okay juice we add it’s just from a can though, and our other tableside cocktail is way better but we’re out of the good whiskey”. She was so not in to it and it was the most overpriced experience ever. And the other chick tried to argue with us about how awful our experience was. I would have paid double to show this friend the last several experiences I’ve had here. :(

Love the intimate setting. There are only 8 tables. Technically, it's reservation-only, but walk-in might be accommodated near their opening time at 5 pm. Their cocktail menu is interesting, a 6-chapter story on cowboys vs. aliens (Texas with a quirky twist!): Highballs, Stirred and Down, Mahattanas and Martinis, Sours and Daisys, Terraformed Tiki Culture, Zero Proof. The categorisation (where it made sense) helped. I had the Chaps 'N' Spurs (Rye Whiskey, Planetary Xaymaca, Lo-Fi Gentian Amaro, Gènèpy, Demerara, Peychaud's Bitters), The Void (Reyka Vodka, Cold Brew, Coffee Liquer, Toasted Meringue), and Venusian Blood (Bacon Fat Washed, Del Maguey Mezcal, Beetroot, Lime). The exotic ingredients in the first manifested in a sophisticated flavour, the second is an interesting twist on the espresso martini given the addition of meringue, while the third was just brilliant beyond words in the harmonious flavour of beetroot with the other ingredients. Midnight Cowboy deserves a place in the top bars of the world. Oh, and I love the music there.

We were a group of 8 and didn't realize we would get a private room in the back! It was cozy and perfect for us. The cocktails were great, all about $20/each, but it made for such a fun night! Would recommend to anyone looking for something a little different to do in Austin.

Great little speakeasy. Cool interior and solid craft cocktails.

Outrageously overpriced. There are no prices on the menu but you will be paying $25 for the pleasure of drinking an average cocktail in a pretentious theme pub. Obviously a lot of people like it judging by some of the reviews but I hope my review will prevent someone else getting ripped off. I travel and work all over the U.S. Shame I had to come to Austin to be robbed.

An absolutely wonderful and unique experience that sets this speakeasy apart from the other locations on 6th Street. The offerings of well designed cocktails are a reflection of the passion in the craft showed by the folks that work here. This isn’t the loud beer and whiskey-coke bar like the others on the street and I am here for it! The service was extremely good, with knowledgeable and friendly interactions and appropriately paced to enjoy the cocktails you have. I would definitely recommend making Midnight Cowboy part of your Austin adventure!

Come here if you want shit service with a side of entitlement, the hostess slammed the door in my face because I don’t have a reservation. As an out of towner never coming here again!

Wow! What a cool special place. Difficult to rate. Excellent cocktails and the staff is awesome. I tried the Dusty Trail and was very good. My friends also loved theirs. The space is cozy, quaint and intimate. This is a location that takes you back in time. We will come back again.

Phew. What a terrible experience. Took about 50 min for the first round, second round was a little quicker. Server never asked how our drinks were nor did they check in after our first round. Had to flag someone down to get a drink and then get the check. The place has 8 tables and 4 staff members. We were basically ignored the entire time. Auto grat 20% is fine, but generally you let guests know when dropping the check. Whatever, everyone deserves a tip. Also, pretty strange that there are no prices on the menu and the drinks are all different prices. One would assume if you’re bold enough to not put prices on a menu that they must be the same price.
