I wanted to like this place so bad! It was a bunch of little things that added up. Servers were reasonably friendly but just kinda dropped a menu on the table. Other craft cocktail places kinda explain the menu a bit, the themes, steer you to something that is a good fit for you. But not here. Also I think being in a basement it must be kinda musty or something as my girlfriends sinuses instantly plugged up. The drinks were OK, not outstanding. I guess for $22 for a cocktail I expect an experience on par with other cocktail bars, which are in the $16-$18 range. By the time I tipped and got out of there I paid $60 for two drinks. With so many other solid offerings in Austin I won’t repeat.

Me and my best friend did a cute date night at Milonga Room and when I say I don’t know how we didn’t find this place sooner, it truly is a hidden gem.

Cozy velvet seating, candlelit tables, and an intimate speakeasy vibe check. And the cocktails are absolute works of art.
The Carajillo was rich, velvety, and perfectly balanced, a delicious blend of espresso and sweet vanilla warmth. The Aperol Spritz was bright, bubbly, and refreshing, like a little burst of summer in a glass.
Every drink feels custom made, with the bartenders walking you through the flavor notes and making sure it’s exactly to your liking.

But what truly sets this place apart is the service. Andrew, the manager, is a master of hospitality, warm, welcoming, and effortlessly making you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in.
Whether it’s a date night, a celebration, or just an excuse to treat yourself, Milonga Room turns an evening out into an unforgettable experience.
We can’t wait to come back(:

Shhhh tell people about this place but don't tell people about this place.... Wink wink. Great drinks, service, and even bites that we could get since the kitchen was closed upstairs was a perfect fit to our craft cocktails.

Took a friend of mine there for the first time last night and they absolutely loved it! Food and drinks were great as always, the empanadas definitely hit the spot for the both of us.
The bartender was amazing as well and gave my friend a little birthday drink!

The hostess with curly hair and a beanie totally ruined our night. My friend and I had dinner at the BA Café, and I was excited to show her the space (Milonga Room) after our meal since I was considering it for my party. But the hostess at Milonga Room came at us with an attitude from the start — cutting me off every time I tried to talk and not even giving me a chance to explain why we were there. We weren’t going to stay, we just wanted to quickly see the space, since we were already there.

I get it if we needed a reservation or if there are certain rules, but there was absolutely no reason to be that rude. It really left a bad taste in my mouth, and now I’m definitely not having my party there. It’s a shame.

They charge an automatic 20% gratuity for awful service. They also don’t mention the automatic gratuity anywhere on their menu

Just leaving a bad review because of how poorly we were treated by the hostess. Never coming back

Came here for a girls' night out. I ordered The Niche cocktail, and really the drink was good.

It's a speakeasy so it's a little dramatic to find...in the back of the building, down the stairs, behind a curtain...but quite frankly that all added to the vibe and it's a quaint spot. Worth the visit once or twice at least.

There’s a 20% gratuity no matter the party size. So basically $25+ a cocktail.

Solid spot! Cocktails and empanadas were amazing. The bartenders (most notably Andrew) were hilarious, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we’ll definitely be back!
