The hostess with curly hair and a beanie totally ruined our night. My friend and I had dinner at the BA Café, and I was excited to show her the space (Milonga Room) after our meal since I was considering it for my party. But the hostess at Milonga Room came at us with an attitude from the start — cutting me off every time I tried to talk and not even giving me a chance to explain why we were there. We weren’t going to stay, we just wanted to quickly see the space, since we were already there.

I get it if we needed a reservation or if there are certain rules, but there was absolutely no reason to be that rude. It really left a bad taste in my mouth, and now I’m definitely not having my party there. It’s a shame.

They charge an automatic 20% gratuity for awful service. They also don’t mention the automatic gratuity anywhere on their menu

Just leaving a bad review because of how poorly we were treated by the hostess. Never coming back

Came here for a girls' night out. I ordered The Niche cocktail, and really the drink was good.

It's a speakeasy so it's a little dramatic to find...in the back of the building, down the stairs, behind a curtain...but quite frankly that all added to the vibe and it's a quaint spot. Worth the visit once or twice at least.

There’s a 20% gratuity no matter the party size. So basically $25+ a cocktail.

Solid spot! Cocktails and empanadas were amazing. The bartenders (most notably Andrew) were hilarious, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, we’ll definitely be back!

Milonga Room is an intimate and artsy lounge with the best cocktails on East 6th. This speakeasy under Buenos Aires Cafe makes you feel like you’re in a stylish 1940s Argentinian living room, it’s an excellent romantic date spot or place to grab drinks post dinner. The drinks are truly an art at Milonga Room– we were blown away by the incredible taste of the cocktails and unique balance of flavors. Additionally, the bartenders were super friendly and knowledgeable, and they went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our experience (shoutout to Andrew!)

My absolute favorite was the The Francessa, a delicate lavender cream cocktail with a beautiful hand crafted aesthetic. After just one sip I added Milonga Room to my list of best cocktails in Austin! We also enjoyed the Palermo (light and refreshing) and their spin on an espresso martini, the Carajillo Del Alma.

Last but not least, one of the best parts of the Milonga Room is you can order empanadas and light bites from the restaurant above! Who knew cocktails paired so well with chimichurri.

Exceptionally mid.

The prices at this bar are ridiculously high considering how weak and poorly made their drinks are. There are MUCH BETTER cocktail bars in this city in the exact same price range. The drinks here were weak and the presentation was just ridiculous.

The food was tasty, and the drinks were beautiful, but they were not at all strong enough to be worth that kind of money. This place is a little more on the expensive side for an Austin speakeasy, and while the presentation was great, and music was nice, the drinks were at most worth $14. The cheese board was an underwhelming portion for $20. Bartender was also a bit of an arse. I’d skip this place for other speakeasy’s out there, Austin’s got plenty and this one didn’t live up to the hype of the other reviews. You can find much better service, drinks, and vibes elsewhere and for a lower cost. Unless fancy cocktails that hardly taste like alcohol and fail to get you even the slightest bit tipsy while being served by an arrogant bartender is your thing, save your money.

Seriously a top notch bar! Creative amaro and mezcal drinks, burnt cinnamon and other nice touches, a really friendly and knowledgeable staff, and impeccable vibes. Andrew showed us a really good time -- can't wait to come back. Even if you tried this bar years ago, give it another shot now that he's in charge, it's really exceptional!

A wonderful cocktail bar which specializes in amaro-forward drinks across the spectrum. The decor is prohibition-era and there are food options from the bakery upstairs. Enter around back to the left of the stairs.
