Small but very vibrant on a Saturday morning especially with live music there. Had a good Cuban sandwich and green smoothie. More seating outside than in.

Not reliable ordering ahead. While I love the idea of having a gluten free option, so I still gave 3 stars, I was super disappointed to have wasted an hour driving because they didn’t have my order (I ordered the day before). I tried to make the best of it by ordering something else, but what I ordered instead was pretty sub par tasting so I couldn’t finish it.
Edit: since there seems to be confusion, I followed the instructions on the website by texting my order. Payment was not asked for during the process and I assumed that was normal. Photo is from their website.

Today we popped over after yoga. Behind the counter was what seemed to be an unhappy employee or at least no smiles or suggestions. We both ordered sandwiches. My friend asked what kind of chips that they had and she couldn’t be bothered to tell us. She said to go grab her own chips, but of course ask for a minimum of 15% tip which I reluctantly chose. We sat down and they brought us our sandwiches in bags. Again, no smiles - we started eating and they walked over and they said I’m sorry we’re closed and you have to leave and then walked away. Mid bite at 4:03 we wrapped up and left. We could not sit outside because it was raining. Would’ve been nice to let us finish our meal while they were cleaning. Or at least worn us when we ordered. So we both sat in the car and ate. When I was in yoga class a month before I heard the owner talking about how he doesn’t like any of his own coffee or smoothies to the people around him asking for suggestions. It was super uncomfortable. People were just trying to be friendly and they asked him what he liked to drink at his restaurant and he said water. I think he lost about 10 customers that day And probably didn’t even realize it. Austin has become a place known for overhyped food and entitled owners.

The coffee here was awful. I paid $12 for a chai and peppermint coffee. The chai tasted like old water and no flavor. The coffee tasted low effort and had no peppermint syrup flavor at all. This could’ve been the baristas fault or perhaps they were trying new coffee beans. Either way, this deterred me from coming back again. I think the baristas or owners should really taste the coffee before serving it :(

The short haired female employee should reconsider the way she treats the customers at this establishment. Berating a customer over a mistake their own crew made is incredibly unprofessional. My partner and I were handed the wrong order, after we opened the sandwiches and noticed the food was wrong the customer that had not received their order pointed out that they believed we might have been handed their order. The short haired female (white presenting with black hair) scolded my partner and I for opening the sandwiches - as if we had somehow made our way into the kitchen and picked up the bag ourselves. We explained that the order had been handed to us and her coworker took ownership of their mistake. The way she handled the situation with such a negative attitude completely ruined our experience and we decided to just leave with our food instead of eating there, like we had originally intended. We will not be returning to this establishment. The service provided by one bad employee was enough to leave a sour taste in our mouth.

Favorite coffee shop in Austin with delicious treats, including the BEST gluten-feee cinnamon bun you will ever eat. Owners and staff are all super rad ??
I love Nate’s! The variety of baked goods, the sandwiches, the salads, and the drinks! They have an iced tea with Yerba mate that is so light and refreshing and I once had a turtle scone that changed my life. The staff has always been friendly. Parking can be tough but to me, it’s worth it!

Lola and Nicole are both exemplary humans, and far more than model employees. They are genuinely kind people. Their optimism, charisma, calm demeanor, and positivity completely elevated my experience as a first time customer. Excellent food, excellent ambience, excellent service.
Glad we found this little oasis. Great coffee, tasty food and the best service.

I can’t believe I’d never heard of this place! We stumbled upon it as a new-to-us coffee shop near the downtown library, and didn’t realize I was about to be blown away by every single item we ate. I had one of the breakfast frittata sandwiches and I cannot wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. Even the toast is delicious. I recommend anything that has the pimento on it!! Also, lots of gluten free options!
Parking: A few parking spots in the back and street parking. All free
Kid-friendliness: There weren’t a ton of food options for my picky toddler, except for cookies. He didn’t mind that, though…

Best gluten free cinnamon roll I've ever had. There is some parking on site. We parked in a garage about 2 blocks away.

It's a cozy little Bakery. But my issue is being charged $10 for a mediocre sandwich that's the size of my palm and $8 for a smoothie. I'm all for supporting local business, but it's disheartening to pay so much for a meal and still being hungry.

Nates Baked is like finding a shiny penny in a sea of dull coins when it comes to coffee spots in Austin. Susan, the mastermind behind the scenes, and Nate, the baking wizard, make a dynamic duo. The crew greets you with open arms and serves up smiles alongside top-notch service. Don't miss out on their golden milk latte - just jazz it up with an extra shot of espresso for that extra oomph!
