New Yorker bagel snob here. Had zero expectations for a proper bagel in Austin. This place is not bad at all. Excellent service and atmosphere. For the bagel alone - a solid 3.5, which is above average and (as noted) unexpected for Austin. Cooked properly, toasted perfectly. Mostly what I'd expect texturally, a little on the bland side flavor-wise but not bad in any way. Not quite a NY bagel - but quite good for TX. Would recommend.

They have Salt Bagels! Really great Bagels, my wife got the everything bagel which looks amazing. This place gets really busy, the first time we came we couldn’t park. We are here on a Saturday morning around 8 and it isn’t bad.

Only did an online order and pickup of Bagels & cream cheese, but they were ready fast, the wait was a few minutes and the bagels are YUMMY!! Haven't had such a great bagel in YEARS!!! We'll be back to order again .....
And wouldn't have really paid attention to this spot if not for their sponsoring the Austin My Parks Day Event!! So thanks for supporting the Austin Parks Foundation!!

I’ve gone to nervous charlie’s for the past 4 years and I’ve never really noticed a decline in that time frame until this past year. A few months ago my bagels stopped getting toasted and so I started asking for them double toasted. Today, when I ordered my bagel it was not toasted at all. It was like a rock. I’m thoroughly disappointed and I honestly think I might not order bagels from here again as a result of such a sharp decline in quality.

I just moved back to the city, so I've been scoping out all the close-by spots, and WOW my first impression is a great one.. Do yourself a favor and go here!

Just moved here from the east coast and I’ve been craving a bagel BAD. Nervous Charlie’s is the closest to a Jersey bagel down south. The main difference is that it’s usually a grumpy, Jewish grandpa preparing my bagel, but here it was a trendy, polite 20-something year old. Culturally different but tastes like home. Totally recommend!

“Unprofessional doesn’t even begin to describe it.”
Walked in just to grab some bagels 🥯 and immediately regretted it. One employee was literally flicking off another coworker while pretending to be busy. Whole place had weird energy — like everyone’s acting for a camera instead of actually working.
Idk what kind of business y’all are running here, but it’s not one I’ll be spending another dollar at. Until management cleans house and gets rid of the clowns behind that counter, consider me gone.

Being a New Yorker, I can honestly tell you the bagels, standards and experience doesn't even come close to the real McCoy.
This place has a toxic work environment. The staff feeds off of each others toxic attitudes toward customers. The tall thin women with glasses is the ring leader. You can literally hear her behind the counter talking trash about the customers while rolling her eyes.
The owner needs to clean house. Get employees who has his best interest and hire a staff that actually cares about the customer experience, cleans the dining area and prevents cross contamination. You know.....employees that take pride in their work!!
It's sad how the employees create an unwelcoming environment and seem really annoyed at simply doing their job. They make it very clear customers are a huge inconvenience for them. The staff clearly does not care about repeat business. The level of cross contamination is disgusting 🤢 and scary. The dining room is filthy and customers are left to clean up behind one another.
Hey Chris, it's time to clean house!!! Your pup Charlie could do a better job 😂

LOVE THEIR BAGELS AND SCHMEAR. I got a jalapeno cheese bagel with a spicy cream cheese, which totally fulfilled my NYC bagel craving. They have the most delicious spicy cream cheese.
There is a decent amount of indoor seating and some seating outdoors. They have digital ordering inside as well, which makes the line efficient. I dropped a star because this location gets way too hot in summer. I ended up eating in the car with the AC on instead of inside the shop.
Their bagels and cream cheese hit the spot every time!

A truly embarrassing amount of cream cheese. This is the second time I’ve been here to have a Lox and bagel and the second time the cream cheese spread was so thin it was actually translucent on the bagel. For $12.50 I expect more than a tablespoon of cream cheese on the entire bagel. The staff were nice and the space was clean, though.

got the longhorn bagel like i always do n it was amazing only thing is the guy w the green hair was so rude and arrogant as if he was doing me a favor by providing his service and was so rude to my dad for no reason when my dad was literally just asking about coffee - that guy was so lame and is probably sad w his life which i would be too if i were him ha! everyone else was an angel :)
