I was sad to come back after so many years to experience such a decline in service and food. Bartender was friendly upon arrival. Server that was also the hostess was overwhelmed as she was the only one on the entire floor for the first hour we were there. Charcuterie was such a disappointment beyond words. They tried but you could tell they were understaffed and it was just wasn't what it used to be on this particular occasion.

Ellie greeted us and took us to a nice table, and helped us pick happy hour selections. Dinner was delicious and we ordered 3 appetizers so the entree came later, all perfectly timed. The food was amazingly good with lots of flavor- we had very little to take home :) We had two desserts (as we could not decide) and they were okay but not fabulous. It feels like Nightcap is evolving and finding their place and I'm happy to return to be a part of their journey. Oh and Ellie picked the music, created the playlist, and it brought me a lot of happy memories of the mid 80s which I loved sharing tidbits about :) All in all a great meal, ambiance, and drinks. I'll be back soon!

We absolutely loved our brunch on Sunday and can't wait to go back. Christin is the best! She made our girls' day even better with her fabulous personality. The drinks are fun, the food is good, the place is awesome, and the service was Amazing!!! We were sitting outside and Christin brought out lavender and lemon scented ice-water towels to drape on our necks! I can't wait to go back again!!!

We stumbled upon Nightcap by chance, and it turned out to be the perfect way to end the night. Kristen, the owner, was an absolute gem — warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about the space she’s built. You don’t often come across places with this kind of personality and hospitality.

The ambiance was intimate yet lively, with a charm that makes you want to linger. It’s rare to find a spot that feels like a hidden gem but deserves to be on everyone’s radar. Wish there were more places like this — or at the very least, expect more to follow its lead. Thanks, Kristen for what you bring to our Austin community!

I wish the menu had more healthy options

We were a last minute 10 seat reservation (3 kids), which was probably a nightmare for them. The whole staff was really sweet and accommodating. Don't be surprised if you get a hug from the owner on your way out the door!

This place has definitely been one of my staples I bring all my friends and family to when they visit. Love everything about it!

Wife and I ate here on a Friday night date. The service was great and the vibe and atmosphere was electric. The food was decent. We had the burrata appetizer and that was fantastic. There was a mixture of sweet and salty flavors which mixed extremely well. We also had the market fish which on this day was wahoo fish. I felt like it was a bit on the dryer side and not as “melty” as I like me fishes to be. I guess most wahoo fish is like this because I have had wahoo elsewhere before and it had the same texture. The pasta/vegetable side that it came with was also decent. Overall the meal tasted good. It felt healthy even though that wasn't what I was going for. But if you're into wahoo then I'd recommend it. My wife had the potato gnocchi and she didn't like it as much but I had her remainders and I loved it. To each their own. Server was amazing and very friendly. The other appetizers on the menu looked great and the drinks look great so we may be back with some friends in the future to take advantage of those things!

One of our absolute favorites in the downtown area. Solid grub, friendly service in chill yet sophisticated digs.

Went to nightcap in early February for a drink and need to shoutout our server Sabine (spelling?) who was so lovely! Totally a girls-girl, made me feel so comfortable and welcome, and she made my date and I laugh so hard! She complimented my perfume (yes ma’am attention to detail) & convinced us to get dessert (okay business woman, ok service!). She deserves a raise! Made our night!!!

Our evening at Nightcap was truly an amazing experience. This was our first time visiting Austin. We were on our way to another restaurant, without reservations. Upon arrival, we were told it’d be about 3 hours before we could be seated for dinner. So, we left and sauntered down the street where we came upon Nightcap. It was such a cute place on the outside, so we decided to take a look inside. We discovered an adorable restaurant and bar, with the most welcoming staff. The lighting was just right for dinner time, and the mostly classic pop music selections really added to the ambience. We were shown to a comfortable table right away, even without a reservation. Sabine, our waitperson, couldn’t have been any friendlier. The service was excellent. Kristen, the owner, and Drew, the executive chef, stopped by to introduce themselves and spent a considerable amount of time getting to know us, chatting about Austin and Nightcap. They were both delightful and such nice people. The food at Nightcap was AMAZING! I had the airline chicken and my partner had the carnitas grilled cheese. Both were exceptional, as were the Brussels sprout and BBQ shrimp appetizers. Delicious!! To finish, my partner ordered chocolate cake. Drew wanted us to try the strawberry shortcake, so that arrived gratis with the cake. Although my partner raved about both desserts, I personally thought the strawberry shortcake was the best I’d ever tasted… EVER! It was so light and flavorful. The strawberries were bright, bright red, and the shortcake was to die for. Yummy! Can’t believe we ate every last bite. The entire evening was a most memorable experience, and we would both HIGHLY recommend Nightcap. If you’re in Austin, it’s a DO NOT MISS eating experience. Bon appetit!

We stopped in late night on Valentine's for small bites and drinks after having attended a comedic play at the Dougherty. First time experience and truly an “experience”. It's almost like we walked into the “second act” of the play; high energy, great people watching and people engagement. Christin, Drew, Sabine, Jake and everyone there were a blast. Food and drinks were spot on. Great environment.

Management was so disrespectful. They could not have been more rude. They acted as if they were not prepared for our large group even though we had reservations over two weeks in advance. Servers were doing their best and were being kind.
