They were out of cauliflower when we went. One vegan tostada option. If you go, go 30 minutes before you are wanting to eat because you may need to stand in the line to be able to sit down. For some reason multiple waiters will work each table which was honestly just really confusing. Updated from previous review on 2026-03-15
I don't remember the last time I felt compelled to leave a (positive) review. Every item on the menu was a piece of art: the drinks, the salad, the tacos, and--the highlight for me--the sholeh zard for desert! The staff and the owner Sara were super kind and hospitable as well. Thank you for a remarkable dinner.

This is a place to go to if you are okay with a light meal that is mostly high carb vegetarian, or trying it out for one time and ok with shelling out money. The flavor and texture were satisfactory. The pricing is a lot for what you get ($8-$10 per item)š¤. No sides included. At entrance we were told that people usually get 3 items. It makes sense. I ate my $8 quesadilla in like 2 minutes. The chips and salsita is $10. Their quesadillas (regular size) are $8-$9. š«£ They add 3% to the total and also ask for tip. Hijole.

We had the tasting menu. It was amazing, perfect portions and wine pairings. The description of the food and wine by all the servers was spectacular and you tell they all loved their job.
amazing food, , great service and the dessert was delicious - 0 complaints!!!!!!
Nixta Taqueria is consistently outstanding. Everything Iāve tried has been deliciousāso much so that Iāve brought several coworkers and visiting friends here, and it never disappoints.
To me, itās the perfect fusion of Austin creativity and Mexican tradition, with flavors that go far beyond ājust tasty.ā Honestly, there isnāt a single āmust-orderā dish because you canāt really go wrongāfeel free to explore the menu and order what sounds good.
The staff has always been friendly and welcoming, and the prices feel fair for the quality. A true gem in the heart of Austin. Highly recommend.

Nixta had a very welcoming and educated staff. The seating was outside and the chairs were on gravel so that kind of inconvenient. The food came out quick and easy delicious. We got the duck carnitas 10/10 (maybe more salsa) , tuna tostada 10/10, migas, and bean & cheese 5/10 (not enough flavor). Michelada was also okay. Music was loud, we had to really focus to hear es other across the table lol.
amazing meal. every course was thoughtfully designed and presented and tasted amazing. highly recommended
Food here is overpriced. I paid 70 dollars for two tuna tostadas and two bean and cheese tacos. I left the place very unsatisfied because I was still so hungry and not very happy with the food. I donāt understand how this place is a Michelin guide restaurant. The menu was not the most appealing.

Continually surprises me. I see the menu and think this can't be good but it is! Never have I ever said the best kale tempura in my life. Also the tasting menu is not heavy which I love

Great vibe and delicious food, worth every penny
The nicest servers and some of the best hospitality I've experienced in the city. ļæ¼ The food is excellent, but you probably don't need my review to tell you that.
We loved our tasting experience at Nixta. We had the privilege of interacting with the owners and it made our experience even more memorable. They are wonderful couple who are passionate about culinary art and bring their personal culture and family traditions into the menu they curate. Looking forward to their upcoming Persian menu next month.
This is for their tasting menu experience. Overall it was good, there were some dishes that stood out as excellent, especially those with novel flavor combos that were really inspired. I was a little disappointed in the integration of the masa and was hoping for more intentional and unique use of that ingredient specifically. Some plating was awkward and the overall service was a little clunky. The amount of food was perfect, not too much but left very satisfied. For an alternative to the tasting menu. We love their taco service and would suggest coming with a group of 4+ and ordering essentially the whole menu for a self designed taco tasting. Bonus if you plan for a weekend early brunch and you can scoop up some pastries from panaderia comadre next door.
Given the hype, I felt like this place was massively overrated. My food arrived slow and was cold. Flavors were pretty bland, and no salsas/hot sauces.
