Saw this place on Tik tok and thought it would be a great spot, but it wasn’t. First of all Guy at the front was great and nice. everything was overpriced I payed $64 for 2 enchilada mini tacos ($18), bean dip was actually worth it, and carnitas taco. The enchilada tacos werent even good they tasted like much no chicken nor steak nothing just mush on a tortilla. Overall price to food ratio is not there. I left completely unsatisfied with my dinner. Thank you

The food was absurdly expensive, in no world should a single taco cost 12$. When we got them they were cold. Would not recommend this place, discada food truck is right down the road and has tacos infinitely better (for 1/3 of the price)

We had the most amazing dinner and experience. Every detail was very intentional, the wine, every tasting, the servers, the music.... We will be back! Such a great night.
It’s worth all the hype it receives
Not worth the hype for me. Nixta has gotten lots of publicity, but unfortunately the plate portions seemed too small for me. I ordered quite a bit of the menu and felt it was too expensive for what one gets in return. The staff was amazing super accommodating and went the extra mile to make sure we had a good experience. It’s a nice quiet place for a date or night with friends specially during the week. The food menu is quite small, but the alcohol menu has a lot to offer including natural wines. I would return for light bites and drinks.

Amazing tasting menu, also for vegetarians. The wine pairing is great and the wine keeps pouring. Amazing service and food!

The atmosphere of this place is amazing it’s very eclectic Austin and it’s so nice being outside with a garden and family style dining.
BUT, the servicers are rude. When we sat our food was slammed down on the table with some plates sliding across. When one of our group members got up to go to the bathroom his chair was aggressively pushed in by a server rocking the table (mind you there was wide gaps between the table allowing for even a stroller to pass). Paying at the start is convient, but when you want another drink or appetizer in the middle of the meal they make you pay immediately. And with every additional item you order the servers will ask for a tip, which is a bit much (in general pay servers a working wage). This directness really subtracts from the atmosphere and interrupts the meal. We were not asked if we’d like anything else or another drink. Our dishes were cleared before we finished. We were rushed out and we were one of six tables, it was not crowded and we were there early in the evening that is was not nearing closing or a rush time for them. Also, a note to their server don’t joke that you go through the Taco Bell drive through in the morning to order food for the restaurant and use the scraps to make disassembled dishes to serve us if you cannot land that joke- it’s not funny, it’s a bit rude.
Food is subpar and service is horrible. The tuna tartar was so fishy that I was concerned about food poisoning (please wash your fish or use fresher fish). The price is not reflected in the quality. It was an extremely disappointing experience. On a positive note that Saki margarita was surprisingly good and I think they have a lovely outdoor area.
I do not believe this restaurant will last unless they adjust their menu to match the prices or quality is raised, change their service practices, and create a more relaxed atmosphere in regards to additional payments. Though it got a mention for a Michelin, it is not a Michelin quality restaurant (speaking as someone who lives in Copenhagen with 18 Michelin restaurants). My partner said that the airport Mexican food was better.

Good food, but not for the budget conscious, at all. My $17 taco which I mistakenly assumed would be a couple tacos and maybe at least one side, turned out to be just one taco. It's extra for the chips and salsa which I'm used to at a lot of places now but which usually includes more and better salsas. It was pretty decent, but not by any means of value. Plus they do not accept good old American dollars. Plus every time they ask if you would like something else and you say yes they immediately jam the credit card machine in your face. You will get to swipe several times and probably spend more time doing than actually consuming the tiny portions. It wasn't a bad taco - I've eaten more and less expensive many times - but it may have been the least-value Taco I have experienced.

I love all things unique to Austin, and owned locally. Unfortunately I feel offended by Michelin’s nod to Nixta.
While I wanted to love Nixta, I found the stand in line service tedious. The lack of a real bar annoying, and the prices stupid. One taco for $xx dollars, no sides, no service, and confused orders. I’ve been here for 45 years and I advise you to pass. The duck at El Alma is tastier & less greasy The cauliflower at Peached Tortilla is superior EVERYWHERE has a better bean taco and FREE chips & salsa.
DO NOT pay extra for avocado crema. It’s disgusting and a rip off. The truth is, they won’t make it. In a world where good tacos cost $4, great tacos are $7 and this place wants $12++ you need to apply common sense. This is Texas.

Nixta is one of the best treats in Austin - all the veggie dishes (beet tartare, bean and cheese, cauliflower) and the duck are world-class. It’s much less busy now with the huge (and beautiful) outdoor space, has the best tortillas you’re gonna eat this year, delicious food and great service.

Nixta Taqueria is a solid place for traditional Mexican food and drinks. They have an outdoor garden where they grow their own food and use it within their dishes so you know everything is fresh. The food and drinks are great. Make sure to get there early as there can be a bit of a line and wait. But it’s worth it.
