I’ve dined at Odd Duck 3 times. The first time was in 2019 at its previous location, and the three of us liked every dish we shared. The second time was a about 3 years ago at its current location, and the two of us liked the dishes a lot (particularly the vegetarian dishes). I visited the restaurant once more with my family in December 2025, expecting the same delicious food with balanced flavor profiles. The menu has completely changed from what we saw a couple of years ago, indicating that the restaurant keeps innovating and offers different dishes as the season changes. What was disappointing, however, is that the “new” dishes had either one overpowering flavor (e.g., sourness) or nothing to distinguish themselves from those at much cheaper restaurants. The following were the dishes that we shared. -\tHoneycrisp Apple Salad. The taste was overwhelmingly sour due to the dressing, and most people could have done better at home. -\tSmashed Potatoes. The ingredients looked very good, and the taste was pretty good as well, although none of us were really impressed with the flavors. -\tFried Oyster Mushrooms. The dish was ok, but there was again nothing distinguishing. -\tChinese Allium Pancakes. This was a complete failure as the pancakes were just cooked pieces of flattened dough with green onions inside, whereas Chinese green onion pancakes are supposed to be crispy with many thin layers (like puff pastry). -\tDuck Confit & Mushroom Doppio Ravioli. This is by far the most tasteful dish of all. -\tWood-Fried Goan Sausage Ring. The dish was very good also. -\tWood-Fried Bavette Steak. The steak was cooked properly, and the flavor was fine, although some of the pieces were a bit chewy. The dish again had nothing to distinguish itself from similar dishes at much cheaper restaurants. Overall, we had high expectations but were rather disappointed with the quality of the dishes we ordered. Innovation is for sure a good thing, but the restaurant seems to offer a bunch of new dishes without carefully testing and refining them, damaging its own image in the minds of customers.
Food was pretty good

No 1 Restaurant in Austin!!
The flavors were wonderfully layered, each bite brought a new surprise, with different tastes unfolding across the palate. Since it’s roughly apple season, apples can be found in almost every dish. Wonderful experience!

Great place for food and drinks. The food is consistently delicious. We had the pickled appetizer, corn bread and goat pizza. Everything was fantastic as usual.

can’t miss out on the burger or the cornbread! Our server was excellent and went out of his way to make sure all the dishes we had were safe for our pregnant friend.

Fantastic creative farm to table in chill vibe atmosphere. Sat at chefs counter and saw the action and able to see the tasty dishes. It’s small plates mostly and sharing is encouraged with 4 plates per couple recommended. Hardest part is narrowing down the top four choices as everything was incredible. .
A carnivore, a pescatarian, a vegetarian and a gluten free person walk into a restaurant... and the waiter handed each of them a menu tailored to their dietary needs.
It's a family style restaurant so we shared everything. We had 8 plates between the 4 of us and everything was delicious! It's locally sourced seasonal food. 11/2025 the ceviche and the cheeseburger were amazing! I would go back by myself and order both of those again. (You will need to wash up after the cheeseburger)
Next time I go back, I will sit outside just because it's a little loud inside and the view outside is beautiful.
This is in the same family as Michelin starred Barley Swine, but not as expensive and the food is very approachable.

We had the Ceviche, the Chalupa, the apizza, and the Alfredo. Only the Chalupa and the Pizza were worth it. My wife's Negroni was really bitter and had to be returned. Service was ok. They did seem more attentive to others.
Odd Duck used to be better years ago with their happy hour menu being better as well. The last few times have been iffy.

Great ambiance and a delicious, eclectic menu. The red fish crudo, fried porkchop and the wagyu burger were fantastic. Oatmeal cake for dessert is a must. Service is courteous, prompt and friendly. Highly recommended!

The waitress said, “for two people, you’ll want to order 4-5 meals.”
Never heard that one before. I was annoyed that each plate that came out was such miniature sized. Literally the size for a 7 year old. Waitress explained that every plate is “shareable sized”, and while literally almost everything was at least $20 on the menu. We ended up with 4 shareable “meals” for +$100.
Would’ve much rathered had a typical restaurant meal experience. Buy two adult [real] meals, listed at reasonable prices ($20-$30), and had somewhere in the proximity [for the love of god] of normal portion sizes.

Service was decent, but I did not enjoy the food at all.
I had ordered the cornbread and blackened redfish.
The cornbread had little to no flavor.
The redfish tasted off, and I was nauseous after eating just a couple bites…
One of the chefs gave me a small piece of the sourdough toast to try (likely after seeing I barely touched my food) which was the best tasting item.
The vibe/atmosphere was very cool as I got to sit at the counter.
I was visiting from out of state for work and really wanted to like this place since it was so highly rated, but I spent $70 (for 1 person) and left hungry, sick and extremely disappointed…

We were seated at the Chef's table, which is a row of 8 seats with a direct view into the kitchen. Fascinating! What looked like total chaos at the beginning of our meal evolved into more of a ballet of chaos as each person in the kitchen adeptly performed his/her unique role. I was amazed how little time the finished plates were under the heat lamps (literally not more than 10-15 seconds) before being scooped up by servers and brought to tables.
The concept of farm to fork is very evident here. We shared 5 different items and probably should have stopped at 4. Decent sized portions.

Dinner at Odd Duck was a refreshing change of pace. The cozy, rustic atmosphere immediately drew us in, creating a warm and inviting space. Each dish felt thoughtfully crafted, balancing familiar flavors with unexpected twists that really showcased the creativity of new American cuisine. Sharing small plates made it easy to try a variety of unique combinations—from savory, smoky bites to fresh, vibrant salads. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, letting us enjoy the evening at our own pace. Overall, it felt like a celebration of simple ingredients elevated by clever techniques, making it a memorable experience to share with my wife.
