I love the food and the staff are all kind but my senses are absolutely assaulted by the volume of the music. The only way I can survive this place let alone give them my business is by bringing noise cancelling headphones, through which I can still loudly and clearly hear every word of every song being belted. Has gone up to 74 decibels so far. I can't imagine coming here after a night of drinking to get tacos. It's so extremely loud in a small dining area with everything bouncing off the walls.
That said, they have delicious vegetarian options and otherwise easily the best food out of every corner of the Lamar-manchac intersection.
These tacos are some of the best I’ve ever had! We tried Alambre, turkey & pork mole, pastor, mushroom, and fried avocado tacos. The mushroom taco was even better with their salsa verde. The horchata was also perfect. No doubt about it—this is our go-to taco spot in Austin now!

Not impressed by the chilaquiles. The flavor of the sauce was good but the chips were served soggy and the eggs that it came with had an eggy smell to them. Thought this was pricey for what it was.
They should have better beverage options.
Tacos were AWESOME! Our original plans for dinner fell through and we came across Papalote and we were pretty happy we did. They had plenty of options for everyone in our party (vegetarian, select proteins)

My new favorite taco place.
Great tacos. One of the best in town. Fresh, most of it is delicious. Not expensive at all. You can leave very satisfied for $20. Worth a visit

Amazing

I have lived by Papalote for fifteen years. The food is great. I particularly like the Alambres. The queso is a great value, although it will make you fat, but that is a given. If you are on the fence, I highly recommend giving them a try.
Just FYI, you order at the counter or call ahead with a ten to fifteen minutes wait, so the ambience isn't well suited for most date nights.

We have eaten a lot of good tacos in Austin and this ranks up there with the best. We had a chicken, mole turkey, cauliflower and fried avocado and all 4 were excellent. Ingredients tasted so fresh and flavorful! Service was fast and friendly. Plus the price is what a taco should be. Warning: go easy with the salsa; it is fire!

The quality of food for the price was pretty disappointing. The meat was overcooked and dry the shells tasted stale.
