Just to say Max is amazing, best service I’ve ever had at a bar. I was there for a work thing and he made me the best pineapple margarita ever. Texas style! ? I wanna go back just so I can make sure to tip him properly. Had a great time!!

We stayed here for a family wedding. My husband and I seldom complain and have written a number of complimentary reviews on Trip Advisor, but this hotel was awful. Our North Wing guest room was postage-stamp size, with no desk and only one chair. It seemed worn out. The mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. The wifi was spotty at best; we finally turned it off. Breakfast, while tasty, took forever to be served the two mornings we were at the hotel. Both days we had to ask for milk and sugar after ordering coffee, as well as salt, pepper and spoons. Maid service came at 2:30 pm the first day we were there, and only after we called. The website said there was a free transportation service within three miles of the hotel. When we inquired, we were told that service was discontinued three years ago. There are no amenities in the room; the snack basket, which was not complimentary, included small Hershey chocolate bars, $5 each. The gym has only two old pieces of equipment, and it was not cleaned. (See photos.) The final straw was when we tried to put our wallets and laptop computer in our room standard safe, and found it was broken. We called, repeatedly, to ask it be fixed; when the repairman finally came and couldn’t fix it, he said that it was ”junk, junk” and just walked off with the safe, which had not been bolted to the wall! Apparently they intend to tear down the hotel and rebuild a larger version soon, and it seems the management is not investing in it in the meantime. This hotel was not cheap—more than $400 a night, and definitely not worth It.

My husband and I love stopping in at the Bar in Hotel Ella occasionally. The architecture and décor of the hotel is beautiful. Moody and inviting, a perfect place for a romantic drink. That is, it always had been in the past. This Sunday around 6:00 we stopped in and had to wait nearly 10 min for the bartender to arrive. The bar area was filthy; the floor had not been swept or mopped, crumbs of some sort all over the cushions and the table tops were grimy and visibly dirty. There was a football game blaring on the television (which in my opinion shouldn't even be in the beautiful bar). The drinks were delicious and the bartender was friendly. Although while serving my husband's drink he spilled it all over the table and barely mopped it up with a dirty rag. I found the bartender and other staff dressed very sloppy for such a nice establishment. We will think twice about stopping here again. We were going to meet another couple there and I'm glad we didn't because I would have been embarrassed at recommending the place. Hotel Ella is such a wonderful place, please don't let it go downhill!

This property was very unique in design and layout. A welcoming entrance connected the check in desk, bar and restaurant. The more recent building adjacent was cute and charming however the bathroom was a little bit of an odd layout and didn’t allow for much space to move. Staff was great and accommodating but will likely stay in the historic mansion on my next return.

Hotel Ella is a charming boutique hotel located along the western edge of UT. The main building is an historic home built in 1898, while a second newer building, pool area, and parking garage have been added. I really enjoyed the beautiful pool area. For the most part, my room in the newer building was fantastic. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom tile was beautiful, and all of the linens (bedroom and bathroom) were top notch. All of the hotel employees I encountered were friendly and helpful. The only negatives I encountered were a couple of pieces of run down furniture in my room and an out of order elevator.

This is my new go to place to stay when in Austin. I travel there frequently and I love this hotel! The staff is fantastic, food was great, amenities exceeded my expectations. Not a chain hotel so the staff is genuine in ensuring a pleasant stay.

Hotel was clean and presentable. No issues with noise considering there was a wedding happening the days we stayed there. Staff was great and the valet service was a great help. Only issue, which was minor, was low water pressure in the shower. Other than that, no complaints.

Hotel Ella is a lovely property! We had our wedding here a year ago and it was beautiful!! We returned for a one-night stay over the weekend and stayed in the mansion. Our room opened to the nice big 2nd story balcony. The balcony is nice to have breakfast, enjoy a book, or cocktails at night. The rooms are nice, well appointed with everything you need.

Stopped at the bar during our trip to Austin, and Kyle was a fantastic bartender! We appreciated his knowledge of the hotel history and he gave excellent drink recommendations. We will definitely be back next time!
