Always a solid place to grab good food and a nice coffee. This is my go-to when on S Lamar.

Good food, decent coffee, cute place. Baristas at the front look miserable. Sat ourselves out back after learning that we seat ourselves from the barista after standing in line. Placed the order ourselves on an app and presented with a 25% tip suggestion and a surcharge for employee health and wellness; payment collected before anything is ordered. I get that’s the norm in Austin now and people gotta live — that’s fine. But when the food comes out before the two drip coffees and even the silverware, and then asking the food runner about the coffee to be hit with “I’m not in charge of the coffee”, I gotta say I can’t believe I paid 25% of the bill for this. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems the principles of service have gone out the window.

It's very rare for me to give a negative review, but today's breakfast wasn't very tasty. The staff only brings the food to the table, so you can't ask them anything in advance. And if you want to ask, the real challenge is to approach someone from the staff. As for food, you should be careful when ordering via the app, as there is little information provided. I ordered a sandwich and I could add salmon. After bringing the dish, it turned out that on my plate I had portions of salmon, fried like scrambled eggs, dripping with oil. When adding salmon as an addition via the app, there was no information that it was fried salmon. I added a piece from the portion in the photo so you can see what it looks like. The person sitting with me ate the omelette and also found it not tasty and dripping with oil.

Here is the thing about Patika. And tbh I almost don't want to tell you all this in fear of it changing. But: they have one of, if not the, best chilaquiles in town. But only on weekdays. Weekends are, I assume, way too busy for them to handle, and the food quality drops a lot. The coffee is great, it's coffee. The non-chilaquiles foods are all, imo, just ok. But I love them just for that. Well, that and the enormously charming order cards. You'll know when you see them.
