Pok-e-Joe’s has been my favorite bbq place since arriving in Austin in 1984. The Parmer location has become my fav pickup location when heading home from north Austin. Very consistent and delicious preparation. We get combo plates: brisket/sausage and brisket/pork ribs last night. Always get pinto beans. Love their fresh broccoli salad. Potato salad is good, but a bit sweet for me. The condiment bar (dill, spicy and deli pickles, red and yellow onions, jalapenos) is wonderful. And don’t forget the Texas toast!!! Seems to be getting a little expensive, but what isn’t. 2 combo plates with 2 sides ea, toast and a pint of broccoli salad with 10% tip was $52. It was a lot of delicious food and can easily feed 3. And they took ApplePay, which really saved me since I forgot my wallet.Parking: Shopping center parking lot. Close in spots may be available, but plenty of spots available just a short walk (40-50ft) away.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. I was wanting to go to the typical more popular barbeque places in Austin that everyone knows of, but this place was recommended by the store that we were shopping at so we gave it a try. The sausage was amazing, brisket great, beans and potato salad on the same level, service was friendly, and the place was clean. They checked every box and we'll be back when we're in town again!

I've been getting BBQ from this location for years, and the food is pretty good. I stopped in tonight for a family pack, and the staff behind the counter were clearly stressed out and arguing with each other in raised voices. I blew it off and reassured the guy cutting the meat that I worked in the industry for years, it's the holidays, and that I understood stressful situations. That said, the next guy that was scooping up the sides was really rude. I asked him what the bbq sauces were and only heard "peach habeñero", so I asked him again. His response was, "I done told you three times already!" I tried to be understanding at first, but I was so taken aback I left my order on the counter and walked out. I'm likely done with this location.

Great service, BBQ, and sweet BBQ sauce, but I wasn't a fan of the beans or lemonade. Something about the taste was off on the beans and the lemonade was not my favorite. The Texas toast was perfect. For spending so much money, I really want the food to be fantastic. I loved the ambiance, though. It reminded me of the inside of a farm supply store we went to for animal feed as a kid.Update: we went back because this is a convenient location for us. The broccoli is drowning in plastic fake cheese and the Mac and cheese is probably in the same cheese, but it tastes so dang good. The fries were fried fresh. I gave the lemonade another shot and when watered down by melted ice, it's better.

The food was fair. Pork ribs didn't have a lot of meat but were still tasty. Brisket was kind of dry, but the sauce made up for it. The sides were ten out of ten! Toast was nice and buttery. Their service was fast and friendly. Offered samples with no hesitation. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Party rooms are available along with jumbo televisions.

Yesterday I passed up many barbecue restaurants and drove to Pokejoes on Parmer 8.6 miles away. I ordered a special meal for relatives who had moved Michigan. They were suffering from an acute case of Texas barbecue deprivation. I treated them with brisket, ribs, sausage, beans, okra, potato salad, coleslaw, mild sauce and Texas toast and everything was perfect. The cure was very successful and greatly appreciated. When I got to the cashier I realized I had forgotten my wallet. I told the manager, Devon, what I had done and offered to leave my watch as collateral but he said he trusted me. I returned after we had eaten and settled up.I won’t get barbecue anywhere else. If Devon hears from others who have forgotten their wallets I suspect he’ll ask about the brand of watch they are willing to leave.

It’s a 50-50 chance that you will get staff that is nice to you.The chopped brisket has been getting less chopped and more fat. And when I say less chopped, I mean that literally. I got half a piece of brisket the other day.Love the pickle bar.It would be really nice if they put up a sign letting you know that you are not supposed to bus your table. We go there a lot, but still get confused because it looks like they’re used to be a place for you to put your dishes..

Best BBQ in Austin. We have tried many around the area and even the hyped up spots but nothing is as good as Pok-E-Jo’s. Service is amazing and great portions for the price. The customer service has gone up. They already had great customer service but now they go around tending to people and making sure everything is tasting good. I always come here for my BBQ craving and will continue to do so in the future
