cool atmosphere. my enchiladas were awesome, however my boyfriend’s tacos were disappointing. drenched in sauce with questionable meat. we doubt that the ribeye was actually ribeye. if i’m not mistaken, the tacos were supposed to come with sides which we never received. for how much you pay ($20 for two tacos btw), the service and food quality should definitely be better. the service wasn’t bad, but definitely lacking. $16 cocktails? pffft. i could pay that somewhere else and get a much better experience.

I don’t write bad reviews but this place is worthy of one…. Worst food I have ever tasted in Austin. Go to a food truck, chuys or seriously anywhere else would have been better! It was that bad. Service was bad, messed up my boyfriend’s drink order with no apology or means to fix it. Should have gotten the check and left at that point. Everything has a weird chemical taste, Chips and salsa even suck. Only 2 salsa which are self serve with flies buzzing around. Our group of 6 didn’t like anything besides the drinks (that they got correct). They also charge you fees to pay with a card and already include the tip in the bill and still try to get you to tip more on top of that. $250 wasted!!!

The food was great , but it was the hidden prices for me they charged me the most for alcoholic drink @ $21 dollars each everything was over priced Lunch for 3 people was almost $300 I could have gone to a real high class restaurants for that when I complained about my bill being outrageously high the manager said he would give me a family discount and gave me a discount for the drinks at 16 each still I know I can get lunch for half that prices somewhere else not a happy customer felt robbed

Chill vibe and good service. The rib-eye steak fajitas were really good, and so were the shrimp fajitas, but I was surprised there were only 6 shrimp on the skillet ($33). I really liked the fresh flour tortillas. The frozen margaritas had the perfect texture.
Parking: The parking lot is tiny!

Don't Be Fooled by Polvos
In a city known for outstanding Mexican cuisine, Polvos has perfected the art of deceiving customers through hidden charges and questionable practices. At their downtown location, they serve a measly single tortilla per person with their "two-person" fajitas, then have the audacity to charge extra for additional tortillas – a basic item complimentary at any respectable Mexican restaurant.
The South 1st location takes the deception even further. They pre-emptively add a credit card "convenience fee" before you even choose your payment method, and automatically tack on gratuity for small parties of just four people. It's a calculated strategy to extract every possible penny from diners.
Here's what should worry you most: If a restaurant is willing to nickel-and-dime you so blatantly at checkout, imagine what corners they're cutting in the kitchen where you can't see. In a city blessed with countless authentic Mexican restaurants that treat their customers with respect, there's absolutely no reason to waste your money at a place that seems more focused on sneaky surcharges than serving quality food.
Save yourself the frustration and dine elsewhere. Your wallet – and your dignity – will thank you.

Great food and service. We had 5 people and had automatic 20% gratuity plus a credit card surcharge fee. Feels like we got nickel and dimed and will likely not come back.

I used to love this restaurant, but unfortunately, it has really gone downhill. The prices have increased, yet the quality of the food has noticeably declined. On top of that, when we visited, the frozen drink machine was broken, and the waiter was rude about it. It's disappointing to see such a once-great place fall short. I would recommend looking elsewhere for authentic Mexican food—this place is no longer worth the visit.

S. 1st location will always be the best. Service isn't great. Not terrible. . . Just more order taking and not alot of attention. Fish fajitas and flautas are amazing.

This place is hard to review. The food is really good but the atmosphere is questionable as far as cleanliness. Definitely not a date night place or a place to bring mom for mother's day. The chairs are folding chairs. Menu is plastic and caked with stickiness. Bathroom is not clean at all and matches the restaurant flooring. The food however is so authentically good. Perhaps get it to go? The menu is very confusing. You'll see what I mean. It's hard to choose between corn and flower (literally).
Vegetarian options: The menu is very confusing. Scan the code and you'll see
Parking: Very limited parking in the lot, maybe 8 spots. From there, it's neighborhood street parking if you're lucky
Kid-friendliness: If your kids don't crawl on the floor, you're good. Would question if the high chairs are sanitary
Wheelchair accessibility: No do not come if wheelchair. You will not be able to use the bathroom
