Fantastic 3 nights stay for a friend’s wedding weekend. Everything was perfect! The pool bar and DJ set of the Reser party on Sunday, the array of restaurants, the staff of the hotel were all impressive. Everyone at the wedding party had an absolute blast and were all having a great time and stay.
The staff was very friendly and the room was relaxing and accommodating. It was in a great spot with various hot spots nearby. The hotel was reccomended by a coworker and it truly lived up to the expectations. I look forward to future stays.
Hotel has lost its shine searching to please a group that rarely stays at the hotel. Service isn’t what it used to be, and it caters more to the pool parties than the hotel guests. AC didn’t work in my room, valet didn’t help me with my luggage upon check in despite the steep valet price, they removed one of the peleton bikes. If you order pool or room service and want to know what you spent money on, good luck! I asked multiple times for receipts and never got them. If you like mystery bills, this place is for you!
An overnight mommy/daughter pool and fun before fall classes begin for both of us. It’s is on a busy street so be mindful if your room faces the street. Lots of noise. Beautiful cool Austin hotel in a great location.
VERY disappointed. Saddened that on a whim, we decided on a Friday to come the next day only because Trip Advisor put S. Congress Hotel as one of the good hotels in Austin with a cool pool. We booked ($300+ for a Saturday night), and were graciously (early) checked in at 12:30 PM, thinking we’d hit the pool first. A family next to us we’re checking in at the same time with day pool passes only. Needless to say, with only a small pool and 18 lounge chairs there, the hotel overbooked pool passes that day and there were 25+ people in the pool area and in the pool at 12:30. We ran into FIVE people with pool passes before we got to our room. We tried again at 2:30, no luck, again at 4:30. All we wanted was a sunny pool day. We felt it was a pretty crappy way to treat those BOOKED at the hotel to allow day passes to be sold to the point that there was no room for hotel guests. It was just a wasted trip to go to a “cool” Austin pool for the day. To top it off, I called on a Friday at 11 AM to book for the following one night only. The person taking the reservation misunderstood, and we’d ALREADY been charged $312 (which included an “amenity fee” of $25 plus hotel taxes) for the wrong stay (she made the reservation for the wrong day) before we got there! Management needs to step UP.
Very good. Cheap and excellent.
Wonderful stay! It was the perfect location! The staff was kind and accommodating. I loved all the close by restaurants and coffee shops associated with the hotel. I would love to stay here again when in austin! 100% recommend.
Don’t stay here. I expected there to be some grace especially when my cards kept on rejecting but there was no effort from the team to help find a resolution. It was so embarrassing to have to explain this to my family.
Front desk attendant was outside taking a personal call on her phone as I arrived. There was no one at the front desk and I had to wait several minutes for her to finish her call. I asked if I was interrupting as I was trying to check in before heading to a concert. She didn't seem to care. As someone who is from Austin and grew up here this gave me the California icky vibes. No hospitality. No one seemed to be bothered nor could they care one way or another. You need to do better if you want repeat business as someone who stays in Austin all the time and has stayed here before I was disappointed.

We celebrated a 40th birthday for a staycation at South Congress. The hotel gave us a very nice room upgrade and included special treats. Thoughtful and highly recommend. Thank you so much! Will stay again for more staycations and recommend to our out-of-town visitors thanks to the gesture.
They no longer serve pupusas or most of the stuff on their menus even though they still have signs up that they do.

For the amount you pay, they don’t offer anything to set them apart from a Hilton or Marriott or any of the upscale hotels. The standard rooms are small. There is no coffee in the room and you don’t have anything to tell you about the hotel or restaurants in the room. Everything goes through the front desk and there are delays in someone answering the phone. It isn’t clear that the restaurants are tied to the hotel so you aren’t sure if they will add bills to your room- you have to ask.
Our room was located directly overlooking the courtyard which turned out to be an on-property wedding venue. There were weddings two out of four nights and the music/partying went late into to the night. We loved the property, the location, the staff and the restaurants - even the wedding ceremonies were entertaining to watch. Unfortunately, the noise made decent sleep impossible those two nights and we got to wake up to leaf blowers at 8 am after the second wedding.
