So the service was great once you’re there but calling over for a reservation is annoying; they never ever answer the phone and you have to leave a message and be ready to pick up when and if they call back. Don’t waste your time on the Caesar salad, it’s very watery, way too much anchovies in the dressing and you have to cut your own pieces. The garlic bread wasn’t warm enough and a little too oily. Now for the gnocchi! Absolutely amazing! Soft, like a pillow and the Gorgonzola cream sauce was spot on. Coming from Italy recently I wish they had red wine priced at a reasonable amount per glass. $18 per glass for the cheapest on the menu is a bit ridiculous. Italian wine isn’t very expensive and there are many excellent choices. You can choose a good bottle and do $12 or $14 glasses and maybe people will drink more. Just a thought

Fantastic! We were surprised at the generous portions! We would split an entree next time. Our server, Forest, was amazing!! He made the dining experience over the top! We will be back!
First, we were late and I don't want to encourage being late, but it's the truth and we walked in at exactly 15 minutes after. The staff saw my frazzled self as I apologetically explained and they said not to worry. They'd take care of us. I'm not gonna lie, we were seated and still frustrated with ourselves and our waitress managed to make us feel warm and welcomed and totally calmed us down with her understanding and calm manner. From there on, we enjoyed a wonderful selection of dishes. The first was the fire roasted tomatoes with burrata. It's too good to describe. I had the lobster scampi this time and omg it was delicious. My husband always has the red fish which is favorite and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you, Red Ash, for understanding and making us feel so welcomed and thank you to our waitress, whose name I can't recall, for soothing us.
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Austin, coming from an Italian who has tried many places, this was the best.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Red Ash. The food was delicious and our server, Jason, could not have been more helpful, thorough and efficient. My husband 100% enjoyed the espresso martini. We will definitely be back.
Incredible! Waited years to go here, and decided to take my fiancée there for our last dating anniversary before our wedding in May. The staff gave us a handwritten card signed by all the staff. It was so great. And of course, the food was amazing too!
While the service was outstanding, the food was disappointing overall - great appetizers, nice sides and tasty cocktails but surprisingly chewy $200 steak and pasta that had the texture, taste of reheated leftovers. Perhaps it was an off night for them due to the recent winter storm that shuttered the city for a few days adversely impacting their food supply?
Overall good restaurant and was nice to try! Server was nice and there are a lot of pasta options. Octopus was good and the bread was good but a little toooo oily
Dinner- divine! Service- beyond words!! Thank you to Dejan for wonderful service and wine pairing!

Third time and I don't know how the steak just keeps getting better and better. The octopus is the best I've had. The seafood past dish was incredible. The staff has always been friendly, welcoming, and professional. The service top-notch. Can't wait to return!!
Service was fantastic - The host staff was warm and welcoming, our waitress Jessica had perfect table timing and the support staff works cohesively together to clear the table and bring out the next dishes. We had red snapper crudo, bruschetta of steak trimmings and the octopus a la plancha to start. My only regret was not ordering the Italian bread sooner! As a musssel lover, my husband devoured the Frutti de Mare and as a gnocchi lover, I have never had fresher more pillowy gnocchi. We will definitely be back
They don’t have a clue of what Italian food should taste like. It’s definitely not doused in red pepper flakes! We ordered four different dishes and they were all smothered in red pepper. If you want Italian cuisine, go to New York and find a little intimate place. You’ll not be disappointed like I was. (And it’s not near as expensive)
Red Ash is one of those downtown Austin dinners that actually feels worth the hype. The room has a cool, dim, industrial vibe, and the wood-fired grill flavor comes through in a lot of the food. Pastas taste handmade and rich, and the steak/seafood options feel like “special occasion” quality without being overly formal. Service was sharp and well-paced, and the cocktail/wine program is strong. Reservations can be tough, but it’s a great pick for date night or a celebration.

The charred sweet corn risotto was so bland. No flavor whatsoever. Not sure why they would serve us that dish. The SPAGHETTINI ALLE VONGOLE was so over seasoned it was unedible. Very salty. Other than that, everything else was good. We sat upstairs and it was freezing the entire night. Not sure why the heat wasnt on when it was the coldest day of the year so far. Huge let down compared to our first experience. Definitely not worth the price.
