The food here was top-notch. For $25, you get a generous portion of tender brisket and sausage, beans, potato salad, two slices of bread, and a can of soda...well worth it. We stumbled upon this spot while downtown Austin, and I’m glad we did. The flavor combinations were outstanding, honestly better than most BBQ places I’ve tried across Texas.
The only small downside is the physical structure it’s clearly older and could use a bit of fixing up but the food more than makes up for it. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I drove almost 3hrs to support them because of a TikTok I seen. I should’ve known once I didn’t see a soul in sight. I went against my better judgement and still ordered. I bought the rib plate. All of my food was cold, ribs not only dry but had HAIR in it. I mean long pieces. I haven’t touched any bbq since this experience. I hate I even have to write this review but driving 3hrs for this was very disappointing.

Came here for the Preservation Austin Legacy Business Month and it was a great little spot! Its a nice, small, non-frills location with limited BBQ options. Prices were much cheaper than anywhere around and the food was just as good. Highly recommend getting a mix of all the meats and sides!

I was not impressed as I was lead to believe. The Brisket was absolutely delicious, the ribs were covered in sauce and the leg quarter had to be a day old. It was dry as a bone. I did get my food on a Wednesday so that may be the difference. I'm trying again on the weekend and if the barbecue is the same I'll certainly be giving them a lower rating. The baked beans were extremely sweet and the mac and cheese wasn't the best.

Some pretty damn good meat! Yes, it looks a bit shabby but when you step inside, you instantly feel that the owner loves this place! Its feels personal. Dont let others make you rethink. Sure, pickup/delivery service might not always perfect, but the food makes up for it! Go there!

This place does not look like much more than an old shack, and inside it is also aged. But what I found was darn good BBQ done right. I ordered the two meat plate with brisket, sausage, Mac&cheese, yams, and bread. Everything I tasted was full of delicious flavors and tender. The staff were friendly and helpful. This place has been around since 1957 and you can tell by the experience, quality of the food, and flavors. I highly recommend going back in time to experience the old style of making BBQ and to enjoy choice BBQ here. Easy 5 stars review. 👍

I really don’t like leaving bad reviews but this place messed us up bad💩 . We order 3 plates for 4 people. The food was nasty and old . The 4 of us are still running to the restroom and it’s been over 15 hours. The restaurant was dirty and has roaches . The health department needs to look more into this place . This is not good at all I think we will be heading to the ER . I’ve never had food do me like this . 💩💩💩 Tic Tok lied 🤥 dont eat here .

I ate here only once a long time ago, before they were caught buying stolen HEB meat. I was shorted ten dollars because they did not have change. I let them keep my ten dollars but later realized they didn’t even offer me anything extra. Like a sandwich or rib. The one sandwich I did have was okay but I would not recommend this place at all.

BBQ was great but the prices. A lot of BBQ places are going under. Going under because people can no longer afford to eat it. Raw brisket is 4.96$ a pound you have half shrinkage costs about 11$ a pound to make 22.50$ a pound would be more than sufficient. You make money in a restaurant by doing VOLUME. Shame everything in this country has to be unaffordable to the common people

I used to be a Sam's BBQ patron back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s!!!
But wow, yesterday was our first time going back!
AND WHAT A VIBE!!!
There was music!
The rib sandwich I had was so amazingly tender and flavorful!!!
A GREAT REMINDER OF THE BBQ from back in the day.
The atmosphere was electric!
We went to get a daquari, and stayed for the fun!!!
We going back on Saturday!
