For a hamburger stand that has been open since 1945, I'm surprised that their burgers aren't good. I used to come here to get ice cream with my family frequently, and I have nothing bad to say on that front. Sandy's ice cream is perfectly made and delicious. However, the burgers taste like a neighbours backyard barbecue to be quite frank. They are lacking flavour, no matter what toppings You choose, and are very sloppily made. My burger came out lukewarm, and fries tasted like a McDonald's drive through. Continuing with my beginning thought, Sandy's atmosphere and building have not changed since 1945, and are seriously in need of a renovation. The service is fast, but not the most friendly staff. They give you a head nod as a greeting and usually mishear your order and ask you to repeat it several times. I have had many orders messed up over the years . There are many bugs, but no methods of controlling them. The only seating areas are right next to the drive through, and on a busy day don't even think about getting a clean table. Overall, in need of some serious revamping!!!

I like it when the menu is simple, contains a few things, and it is done quickly and well. Sitting outside is the only down side, but the burgers are delicious. Although this place is a few years older than Whataburger, it has that same Texas-style burger vibe. The kids love the hotdogs and soft serve ice cream.

My boss brought me here for lunch on our last ATX trip. She grew up in the neighborhood and wanted to share a great burger with me. She did not disappoint. Not only was the burger good, but the service was fast and friendly.

The best old fashioned hamburgers, juicy, fresh, hot and well seasoned. Fries and chili dogs are also the best. They have never gotten my order wrong and service always friendly. Leaves other chain fast food places in the dust.

I love the fresh hamburger deals, but this time, I guess I went too late in the evening 7ish, the fries were hard and not fresh.4/19/24: went for a late evening snack. Strawberry sundae had frozen Strawberries and no Strawberry syrup. Yuk!

Can’t beat the Wednesday and Saturday special of 1/4 lbs burger, fries and soda for $7.49. Swear the burger is bigger than a 1/4. Pineapple shake is bomb. Line moves quick standing or driving. Pro-tip is to walk there or park there and walk over to auditorium shores for a picnic.

Small little spot downtown. Sandy's has some great tasting burgers. Not far from the river. It was a choice of whataburger or Sandy's. I'll tell you I'd pick Sandy's any day of the week. Not very expensive has some outside seating and great service also. The lady at the counter directed me to taste their great double burger. Only downfall they have basic fries. But lovely flattop cooked burgers!!
