We had been driving by this restaurant on Spicewood Springs for over a year when we decided to drop in on an impulse. Nothing too fancy about the restaurant and a little plain but quiet and cozy. I ordered a cup of hot and sour soup, and my wife and I shared an order of Kung Pao chicken with extra peanuts and an order of egg rolls. Service was good and our order was delivered hot. The soup was pretty thin and had little depth. The egg rolls were greasy and not special at all. The kung pao was good but was over-loaded with peanuts. Nicely spiced though and they had cut up the chili peppers to nicely spice it. When our bill came I questioned the 4 Dollar charge for extra peanuts. Our server said they were extra charge but $4 is ridiculous. All in all it is a decent local option but I doubt we will return.

Maybe we caught them on a bad day, but this is definitely the worst Asian food I've ever had. It took 40 minutes to make our food. The crab rangoons were very small and the filling was firm and crumbly instead of creamy. The chicken texture was awful and most pieces looked almost pink? It was a little tough to tell but I don't usually have to question the color of my chicken. The lo mein was very bland, with the barely cooked onions holding most of the flavor. The best part of my meal was the white rice.

This place should be shut down. I ordered steamed dumplings and pepper steak. Both were disgusting. Dumplings tasted like frozen goop. And the pepper steak: totally gross and shiny. Dripping with oil and very grisly. Best part about the restaurant was leaving. Told the woman working that their food was gross, never had anything so greasy in my life. No English response from the woman. Told her that there’s a good reason why the restaurant was empty. It sucks! Please don’t waste your time or money on this place! If I could have given 0 stars to this review I would have done so.

Loved the Shanghai rice cakes, fish with preserved mustard greens, spicy fish, Szechuan numbing chicken, green beans, mapo tofu, & cauliflower dry pot. Not greasy and felt lighter like home cooking - I really liked every dish! They were also very accommodating for our large group and brought small plates for the birthday cake. Great service and food, and we will be back!

The food experience at Seven Spice was AMAZING to say the least!
ORDER: small wonton soup, egg rolls, spicy orange chicken, spicy beef and broccoli, and fried rice... all of which was delicious and fresh.
The wonton soup ingredients were all fresh.(you can tell by the brightness of the veggies and how delicious it tasted) and was a great way to start my experience... I ordered a small but it was a pretty big bowl which set the tone for the rest of the food which all came in large portions and all freshly made.
The chicken and beef were super tender and tasted perfect.... the egg rolls and fried rice were cherries on top and a tasty compliment to the entire meal!
There's not many places where the food is made to order and comes out fairly quick but Seven Spice serves it up fresh, hot, and quick without sacrificing one for the other. After 10 years in Austin, I can't believe I haven't been to this place before but it's officially my favorite Chinese food spot.
Great service, amazing food, huge portions, and low prices, what's not to like!? I highly recommend this spot 👌

Super friendly, enthusiastic staff. Food was authentic and not over priced. Chef owned. 👍🏼👍🏼 Will return. Plant based options 👏👏🌱
I had an excellent experience at Seven Spice! The walnut shrimp, tofu and vegetables, and sizzling beef were absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy, making it a great spot for a family dinner or casual hangout.
Everything from the service to the quality of food exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family!
This place is truly the real deal. You know a Chinese restaurant is good when many many Chinese people eat there. My favorite dish is their pork lo mein dish. Man, it is not a dish, they serve it to you on a platter! Large proportions, the thickness and size of the pork also increased since our last visit. Overall five stars for this place. Highly recommend.
This place completely blew me away. If you’re looking for authentic, flavorful, and beautifully cooked Chinese food, look no further.
It was altogether a wonderful experience. The waitstaff was attentive and the food was excellent. We ordered beef chow fun, which had a perfect mild zing and tender slices of beef. The other dish we ordered was eggplant with garlic sauce - also very flavorful. Both dishes had very fresh ingredients and came out piping hot (temperature).
