Yallššš I wanted to so badly like this place!!! My boyfriend and I came to the omakase bar for our anniversary and were more than willing to spend $150 per person for this bar. I have no complaints about the service or the people but unfortunately the nigiri was not up to par. Initially I thought the food was fantastic until my stomach started to acheā¦ A LOT. Letās just say I had this food 30 minutes ago and came home to explode. Take this review with a grain of salt. When the kitchen gets busy the fish might not be of adequate sushi grade. Maybe avoid going on Friday nights when theyāre the busiest to avoid this!
Update: I had the worst food poisoning of my life!!! Donāt go here. B

Where do I start? Chef Eddie was remarkable! He asked us what we preferred, and if we had any types of fish we didnāt like. It was our 2-year wedding anniversary and he made it so memorable. Eddie incorporated educational materiel as part of the experience. Everything was exquisite. Canāt wait to visit again.

Visited Sushi Junai Omakase for lunch while I was in Austin and was so impressed. Iāll admit, Iām a bit of a sushi snob and this place absolutely delivered. The fish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and prepared beautifully. You can really taste the quality.
My waiter Sunny was amazing. Super attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations. Service makes such a difference and he really elevated the experience.
I didnāt get the omakase this time, but now I have to come back for it. If the lunch was this delicious, I can only imagine how incredible the full omakase experience will be. Cannot wait to return.

Good, but not amongst my favorites. Sea eel sushi fell apart and didn't have the usual brown sauce on it. I had the sashimi dinner too. It was good that the fish choices were not the usual ones with good presentation. Kudos for that. They need to offer the usual hot towelette.

We sat at the bar and got a medium sushi boat. The quality of the fish was top tier. The service was great. The sush had wonderfu mouth feel. The poke salad hit above its weight. I really liked the spicy edamame
My husband I enjoyed the Omakase experience at Sushi Junai. Overall the food is excellent and quite affordable. Our servers, including Bo were excellent and attentive. This was our second experience at Sushi Junai. I was reluctant to come back for a second experience though the food was excellent. I found chef Eddy problematic. He exhibited a troubling lack of social skills. During both of my experiences, he completely refused to make eye contact with me and simply directed all his attention to my husband. He repeatedly asked my husband what he wanted to eat, how he enjoyed the food, leaned in to ask him questions etc. My husband felt like a king as he was treated as such. I, on the other hand, felt completely ignored. I could not help but wonder if race or gender was a factor here--my husband is a White man and I am Indian-American woman. In any case, it put me off coming back here. I would much rather spend my hard-earned money on a more expensive Omakase experience where I am not treated so disrespectfully.

We truly enjoyed the omakase set, amazing. Sad that I could not try the final plate, and definitely could not try the dessert, itās a lot of food . If I knew it in advance I would have probably just ate nigiri sashimi style.

This place is amazing. Donāt have any turnoffs about eating sushi in the middle of Texas, the chef here is excellent, and the fish is top-notch. Have a great happy hour from 5 to 630, and a great chefs sampler Nigiri entrĆ©e. The highlights were the Uni and the horse mackerel. This is not your every day sushi place with rolls with a bunch of sauce, they serve fish here the real Japanese way. I come here every time. I am in town and couldnāt recommend it any higher.
