Listen, I don't usually take time outta my busy day to write reviews, and I absolutely refuse to write negative reviews UNLESS terrible things have transpired, so having said that... this review wasn't requested or incentivized. This is the real dill pickle.Call me old fashioned, but I grew up learning in my early jobs as a teenager that customer service was of the utmost importance. I don't feel like that was indoctrination so much as it was understanding how important it is to be the representation of a company (you trust and depend upon), and of course, as an individual. I'd find it a welcome challenge to try to make people laugh or smile, and it always paid off. My kids and I have been experiencing some less than stellar customer/representative interactions over the past few days, and I began to resign to the fact that maybe it's just that the new crop of kids are "built different". Tarkā on Anderson Lane has unwittingly restored my faith in humanity. I'm not even going to go into detail about how pleasant and well-mannered the staff was, because words dont do justice to how I felt walking in and leaving their establishment. It was such a breath of fresh air to feel that not only were they- dare I say, JOYFUL, but they were completely genuine. It really made my meal and the experience so much better. No pretenses, no pushy up-selling, no indifference or disconnect. Homeboy at the counter was all smiles and eye contact, totally respectful and had great manners (someone raised him up right), and as we were leaving, a young lady was super nice and refused to let me take my tray to the garbage can and thanked us for dining with them. Solid team there, and I thought it was worth mentioning some good news. Keep it up, y'all! It has not gone unappreciated!

Always have a good experience at Tarka! I love that I don't get sick when I eat there off the gluten-free items. I can't always say that for other places. Cross contamination gets me sick, so I always have to carry around a bottle of GlutenEase but not at Tarka ?

Worst customer service ever, I have been trying to get ahold of a manager for DAYS and she's never in or available. I suspect that whoever is at the front/picking up the phone is just refusing to transfer to them. I WILL BE INSISTING EVERYDAY UNTIL I AM ABLE TO SPEAK TO THEM!

The chicken vindaloo (hot option) was pretty spicy! I also loved the garlic naan, but I've never been disappointed by garlic naan. From the outside and based on the customizable, almost modular menu, I was expecting this place to be more of a Chipotle style fast-casual place, so I was surprised to learn that the staff brings out food to the table. They were really fast, though. I barely even sat down before I had my veggie samosas in front of me. I couldn't tell if I was supposed to bus my own table or if they would do it for me, so I apologize to the employees if they had to clean up after me!!

Quick, good service, Tikka Marsala was pleasantly spicy, even at medium. Korma was slightly sweet but really good. The Garlic and regular Naan was fresh and nicely toasted.

Biryani was nothing like it used to be. Just rice with tomato-ish sauce, barely any spice, slightly sweet and a little gooey. I recommend ordering extra chicken. The Samosa Chaat was a glob of stew-like ingredients with strips of soggy tortillas. The side raita and chutney and side rice were perfect. I'll likely try one more time and go back to basics, plain rice and a curry. Maybe I ordered wrong,

Tarka massively shrunk their portion size lately for takeout orders.Whatever you order, the to-go dish itself is literally half the size it used to be, which is pretty disappointing because it used to be a full meal. Now the tikka masala takeout is basically a small dish appetizer with 2 small specks of chicken. Really greedy move which puts me off the place for good easily, this kind of stuff has to stop it’s ridiculous.

I’ve tried a lot of Indian places in Austin but I always go back to Tarka for the hot and delicious chicken korma, chicken tikka masala, vegetarian samosas, and fresh naan. Hands down the best place in Austin to eat delicious Indian food!

I eat here once a week and really enjoy the food. However, yesterday I called in my order for pickup, and realized Ihad left my wallet at home before I went to work. No problem...I had $80 in cash on me. They don't take cash! Add another one to my boycott list. This should be illegal. Our monetary system is based on the dollar and it should be accepted.

Me and my fiancee order tarka maybe once a week for dinner and it's always amazing but this last Tuesday we ordered and got home with our food only to realize they had forgotten to put our 2 sides of rice in the bag. I called them up and it was already 9 and after closing time and the manager apologized and took down my address and phone # and drove to our place and gave the rice to us plus a slice of cheesecake for our trouble. I really didn't expect that level of service. I was extremely satisfied and our dinner was wonderful as always. Thank you Tarka Northcross
