Best Indian food in town. My wife and I eat here at least twice per week. I highly recommend the lamb kabob platter. The Saag Paneer is great. The coconut curry goes great with shrimp or paneer imo. The pakora is always crispy and fresh. Very clean. The city of Austin recognizes Tarka as a green restaurant. Don't forget to tip even though it's fast food. They bring out your food and clean up after you eat.

Vegetarian options: Aloo Gobi. Daal Tarka. Daal Makhani and so much more!!

I ordered take out it wasn't the best flavor wasn't as bold as I had hoped for nann was over cooked.

Most reliable Indian food. Taste has not changed for over 5 years. That's good and bad.

Kofta korma with naan or roti is great. It's mild and flavorful.
Samosa chat has always been nice.
Pakoda is also nice.
Breads can be better. It's ok.
Biryani is not at all nice.
Saag paneer is not nice.
Paneer can be softer fresher.
Paneer curries are ok.

So delicious. Love this Indian restaurant

I have been traveling, but tea here is worst, and it was cold when I told the guy he said it's only one hour to close, and we could not make tea again. The curry I had was more tangy (citrus) than expected. We also ordered vegetable biriani it was not cooked properly, and was like rice mixed with curry and vegetables.

And the main cashier Dave was just such a polite, cool, and such a pleasure to have a short and quick chit chat with! Easily my new favorite Indian restaurant on this side of town! ????

Looked at the reviews and got fooled.

Ordered for a Mirchi Mirch paneer and garlic Nan. The paneer dish was just tomato sauce and Nan was slightly thicker than a papad. The rice which came along with paneer was dry. Also had a Chicken pakoda, chicken was chewy and overall the dish was bad.
This is not Indian food.

I ordered what I always order from here; chicken biryani and chicken coconut curry. When I received my order it was a container of rice with zero chicken, cilantro, or onion for the biryani. The curry also had no chicken in it and was half full. I called and the manager was incredibly rude. She claimed that there was no way there wasn’t protein on it. She also claimed that the biryani is only protein and rice, which is false according to the menu. On top of all that the portions are a joke. My curry was about 1.5 cups and $20. Won’t be ordering again.

Food quality has gone down the drain. I have been a regular customer but the last 2 times, I got SICK eating this food. Gave it benefit of doubt the first time but it’s confirmed now. Never returning.

I love Indian food but this is sub par. The Daal with chicken was WAY TOO SALTY and the chicken was dried out breast meat. The music in the venue was very loud.

They refuse to take cash for payment. It’s illegal to refuse legal tender. No signs are posted up saying they do not take cash. They wait until you order to tell you that they no longer take cash. I drove 45 mins to try this restaurant just to be turned away because they refuse CASH!!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant with a cafeteria/eatery style. The food is incredible Indian chaat and some classics you're sure to recognize. It's every bit as good as Viks Chaat in Berkeley for those who have been. The flavors are very good. The service is excellent even if you don't know what to order they will be very nice and accommodating towards you. Great atmosphere with the music and photos too. Excellent overall, no complaints. The place was very clean too!
