Tatsumi is my favorite sushi spot whenever I'm in the mood for high quality fish and great vibes. I'm always impressed by the sushi selection. Tiffany the owner is always so kind and always checks in to make sure we're having a good time. Her team is always so helpful and during our last visit we had the pleasure of being hosted by Vin-- who btw is always very knowledgeable about the menu and fish options. Tatsumi never disappoints!

A last minute date night turned into the BEST night out we’ve had in a while. Chef Elvin was A+++. I feel like we stumbled upon a special gem and can’t wait to bring all our friends back. Wonderful service, so many delicious sake’s, and the nigiri was as good as it gets!

Tiffany and her son showed us an amazing night out. The food was simply fabulous. I've been to some of the best sushi restaurants in NYC and Los Angeles and the quality of food here was out of this world. I can't recommend Tatsumi enough to anyone in Austin looking to crave their sushi fix. Simply put.....an incredible dining experience.

The nigiris were delicious although the super white was slightly more seared than what we used to at Soto. The roll was good. I don't recall the exact name but it was the first option on their daily express menu. We had very high expectations going in, given the glowing reviews they had. But they were not exceptionally good beyond the quality we've already got used to at Soto. The place is small yet there was a loud party during our visit and they turned up the music. It was extremely hard to talk to each other. Their prices are about the same with Soto/Uchi. We sadly won't be returning and sticking with our spot- Soto(Cedar Park) instead, where we can have both quality and ambiance for the same price tag. But if you're nearby and don't want to deal with downtown parking, this is a solid option for delicious nigiris.

They served me rotgut sake. I am still giving them five stars. That tells you how good the cooking and the fish are. * * * "Technically" when one reviews a Japanese raw fish restaurant, One should order nigiri or sashimi rather than rolls. This allows you to get the best sense of how fresh the fish is or how good the fish is. Well, me and the lovely lady, just wanted rolls, So regular rolls and handrolls are what we went for. That hides your supposedly really good fish in a huge junkyard of other ingredients. This will drown the quality of middle of the road or even good fish. It won't drown the quality of godawful fish. Nor will it drown the fish that is the sushi of the saints. * * * The fish in Tatsumi's rolls absolutely positively blew me away. You could taste the freshness and the quality even with all the other stuff that was sitting in my hand held or on my chopstick. I looked at that fish in absolute wonderment. * * * In a state of disbelief, I ordered a second round of goodies. The second round was just as wonderful. One of those items was a fried oyster handroll. Not only was the oyster good, but the fry job was first rate. So the kitchen is as good as the fish shopping. * * * Now about that rotgut sake. Tatsumi is NOT cheap. Our bill was eye-rolling when we saw the final tab. Their sake list will give your accountant pause. A few of the upper end sakes had prices that left me in sticker shock ... Even if I had no intention of ordering same. As almost an act of protest, I ordered the cheapest sake on the menu. This is the equivalent of ordering the house wine. At a fine restaurant, if you order a house wine ... You will not get an amazing bottle of wine ... But you will at least get something drinkable. The bottom of the line sake at Tatsumi was not even that. It was like they were saying, you order cheapo, we give you swill. * * * That kind of thing usually makes me drop a star. But that would have been unfair to the fish. * * * If you want to make a statement about sake prices, Order water. I am sure their water is fine. The fish on the other hand will make you die and go to heaven. Heaven is a nice place.

Fantastic quality. The team behind the sushi bar is so friendly and fun to watch. They have some terrific specialty Nigiri!

This place is delicious. I went for lunch during my work break and they were pretty quick to get the food out. They were also really nice and attentive. I got the Tatsumi lunch special (which was a spicy tuna, and a salsa, like roll?) and Ikura Nigiri pieces. All tasted fresh and was super good. I would go back again! I've been here once before and I will say, I remember the Ikura tasting different last time I went. Specifically the Seaweed was fresher and the Ikura was colder last time. This time was not "as cold" but still good. The ambiance is nice and quiet, so it was a relaxing lunch.

Tatsumi Sushi was on our radar after hearing rave reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. We visited on a bustling Friday night, and the place quickly filled up. The service was a bit of a mixed bag--Tiffany, who we think might be the owner or manager, provided excellent and attentive service, but others were not as on the ball. A couple of us opted for the Sandokase (hand roll omakase), which was a unique and fun experience. The presentation and concept were top-notch! One of us had the chef's sushi selection, another opted for ala carte sushi. Food was good overall. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, adding to the overall experience. While the food was decent, it didn't blow us away. Overall, Tatsumi Sushi is worth a visit, especially if you're in the area. The combination of a fun atmosphere, novel offerings like the Sandokase, and the potential for great service from Tiffany makes it a spot we'd consider returning to.

We stumbled upon this amazing little taste of Japan this afternoon. We were looking for a new sushi spot and I am so happy this is what we chose! The head chef Alvin offered suggestions, tastes, recommendations and even a surprise chef made authentic hand roll. He aims to please and will be sure you leave happy! AND it is much more affordable than other restaurants with less fresh fish. We are looking so forward to heading back for dinner in the future when we have more time. This is a MUST TRY spot for authentic fresh Japanese. Only time I have had better tuna sashimi was fresh straight from the ocean!

Tatsumi is considered to be one of the best sushi I've ever had! And that's coming from someone that has experienced many omakase and even sushi in Japan. The 'sauce' or toppings for each of the nigiris were different but paired so well with the fish. Everything was fresh and bursting in flavors! After coming back to California, I definitely reminisce and miss this place because there isn't anything comparable here. This place is a must if you're ever in ATX!

Impeccable service, even better food. From the moment we walked in, we were attended to with 5–star service. We weren’t sure what we wanted so our server curated our meal, coursing it out over 6 courses from lightest fish to heaviest. It turns out he was not a server, but a floor manager and/or chef(?) anyway, he knew his stuff and clearly cares about his craft.Every single item was delicious to the point that we would just sit there and look at each other, wondering why and how this sushi was so much better than anything else we had eaten. Something about the attention to detail, the delicate balance of flavors, and the quality of the fish made it exquisite. This is our new favorite sushi restaurant and I would go here over Uchi any day.

Tatsumi Sushi is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Austin (blows Uchi out of the water). It actually might be the best sushi I’ve had ever. The service and atmosphere is fantastic and I can’t say enough about how amazing the food is. Try it! You will not regret it.
