Great little pizza restaurant with a nice atmosphere and some of the best pizza my family has ever eaten. Also reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Was looking for a place for our weekly date night but was also craving pizza. This was the only nicer ambiance type place with waiter service I could find. I had low to mid-level expectations before coming since while I do love brick oven pizza, I prefer my neopolitan crust to be a little thicker and chewy and not thin crust. With that said, this place blew it out of the park! The beet salad was a good portion for sharing and had unique flavors. The pepperoni pizza was fantastic and I ate the entire thing which is surprising since I read online that they are known for their big portions and I don't think i ever ate an entire neopolitan myself in one sitting. I also had the chocolate hazelnut toffee budino (pudding) for desert and loved it. 5 stars for service, ambiance, food. I can't wait to come back. They no longer serve nduja and I hope they will bring that back to their menu.

The Backspace is a great spot for wood-fired pizza if you appreciate quality ingredients and a more refined take on classic pies. The crust was the highlight—thin, slightly charred, and full of flavor—while the toppings felt thoughtfully balanced rather than overloaded. Everything tasted fresh, from the sauce to the cheese, and the pizza came out quickly despite a busy dining room. The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, making it a good place for a casual dinner or meeting friends.

Best pizza I’ve ever had in my life, and I love pizza! Our server was Sydney C. We’re visiting from out of town, and this will be my recommendation to any other tourist. I enjoyed the fennel sausage more than the pepperoni Americano. And I recommend always asking for pepper flakes and chili oil. The tiramisu is worth the extra money.

very good food. If you get reservations, absolutely go. If you cannot, it could still be worth it, just less so. We were lucky to get bar seating, but it felt like the staff were overwhelmed, making us feel a bit guilty about dining there on a whim. The place feels a little claustrophobic at the height of dinner, which speaks to how beloved they are. The pizza was delicious and made with care. Their menu is perfect, not too small or big. It really is a nice space, next time we will prioritize getting a reservation ahead of time.

Best Neapolitan pizza in downtown! Cosy location so make sure to do a reservation and cheap parking is available a block away. Great ingredients, awesome staff. Phoebe is the best host and made my birthday feel extra special. Highly recommend!

I really hate giving lackluster reviews especially to small shops and restaurants. But, there's a lot of room for improvement and I hope this review will help them improve.

The service was great, nice guy.

The pizza was so so, the crust was good, a bit over cooked, but the crunch was good. The sausage had a great flavor. The sauce needs wory, either there wasn't enough or it was just too bland for my taste.

The biggest problem I had was the smell of the restaurant. There was a sewage odor that wafted into the dining area. I hope it isn't a permanent feature because it made me lose my appetite and probably influenced the taste of everything.

Walking from the restaurant, within the first 200 feet, three homeless asked for my leftovers. Not he restaurants fault, but it makes going there in the future undesirable.

The space is small and cozy, and it truly makes you feel like you’re somewhere other than Austin. The service was great, our server was attentive and really nice. The pizzas were delicious, definitely the highlight of the visit. We tried the lemon wings and they were good, but we were expecting something different.

Since it’s in Downtown, parking can be a bit tricky, so plan ahead. I also recommend making a reservation because the place is small and fills up fast.

There was a slight odd smell at times, which we think might have been coming from the pipes, but it wasn’t a major issue.

Overall, it’s a solid spot and I’d definitely go back for the pizza and the vibe.
