Tonight was absolutely amazing! Lamar wasn’t even our assigned waiter, yet he went above and beyond to take incredible care of us. As we were leaving, he made sure we had water to go, such a thoughtful touch. His service was impeccable from start to finish. Someone please give this man a raise and a promotion, he truly deserves it!
Lamar is the best! He needs to be on the floor. He took better care of us than our waitress who didn’t say her name.

Elegant dining in all aspects: service, food quality, ambiance and convenience. We celebrated our wedding anniversary (49th) and we were delighted with attentiveness and an exceptional dining experience.
This was my husband's and I first visit. We ABSOLUTELY loved the service! Our waiter's name was Ralph and he took care of us completely from beginning to end! We let him know it was our first visit and made us feel like royalty for real! He gave us a lobster fritter in between our oysters and our meal. Then we had dessert also as a surprise! In all my 55 years, I have never had that type of service ANYWHERE! That alone made us say we would return and bring friends! Now let me talk about our meal...raw oysters were blue point. Fabulous! The bread basket was nice and warm and had 4 different types of bread and fresh butter. If you know...you know! We did the bone in ribeye which we shared and it was more than enough meat. Seasoned!!! We had the lobster Mac and cheese and sautéed spinach. Mac and cheese was creamy with just the right amount of lobster! Spinach just barely heated with garlic...period. It needed a kiss of salt and it would have been fine.
Happy hour experience was very good. Lamb lollipops are delicious and Pinot noir on happy hour is very drinkable
No complaints here , great food , great service . Would recommend trying if you have the budget
I went here for a late lunch (1:30pm) before catching a flight in the evening. Started with a Caesar salad, which was OK but the 8 ounce fillet and mashed potatoes were wonderful. I mentioned to my server that my birthday was coming up in a couple of days and they surprised me with a fantastic free dessert which was a crème brûlée cheesecake and a mocha chocolate tort. Very kind of them to do this. This was a great time to go as there were probably only myself and 10 other people in the entire restaurant.
We hosted our company holiday event here last night and the entire process from beginning to end was above and beyond amazing! Kristi and Avi did a phenomenal job with helping me plan the event. With certain dietary restrictions they were super accommodating to all requests and even did more than asked for or expected. Our server, Matthew, and the rest of the crew did a phenomenal job with making sure all our guests were well taken care of. They knew every detail that I had previously talked about with Kristi. The food was amazing! Everyone at Capital Grille made our employee end of year celebration extra special and it was very much appreciated!

This was our first time visiting Capitol City Grill and they did not disappoint. Last night was wonderful. It was me and my husband's anniversary, our food was amazing. We could not stop talking about how the staff was so welcoming and pleasant. The manager Jasmine Peterson made a point to come to our table, talked with us and accommodated us in so many ways. The bartender Antonio Perry as well, was so welcoming. I can't leave our server out, Jaimison C. really patient and kind. Much appreciated,We will be back again for sure.

As always at Capital Grill, we have a wonderful experience and celebration of holiday, special occasions, birthdays, etc.
Absolutely the worst fine dining experience I have ever had. Ever. I am 71 years old and we have traveled extensively. I took my adult family members on November 27 for dinner, with a 7:15 pm reservation. But after waiting in an exceptionally crowded check-in area we were not seated until nearly 830 and our drink and appetizer order was not taken until. 9:00. We stayed calm and respectful and the very good waiter apologized effusively but couldn’t give an estimate on our food. The steaks were overcooked and they had “run out” of things like Mashed potatoes. My steak au poivre arrived crusted over, overcooked, and I didn’t see any of the courvoisier sauce. I literally could not eat it. We left with uneaten food at approximately 11:00,p,m.
The decor and huge paintings were cartoonist , unlike other Capitol Grilles we have been to in others cities. The four hostesses were in panic mode and disarray.
This is a special highly thought of high-end restaurant with a “business casual” dress code (and yes this is Austin) but there were patrons in even blue jean cutoffs and others with inappropriate attire. We are no snobs, but come-on! Probably because of the long time, the party of 8 next to us were drunk, loud, shouting, toasting which filled the entire restaurant. and we could hardly be heard trying to talk among us four. Floor managers never took any initiative to calm them down. Nor did the managers give us an update on food. It was as if no one was in charge and woefully understaffed.
The exceptionally long wait without being given any updates, etc, the wildly rowdy patrons, poor quality and missing food makes me rate this zero for this particular visit

I want to begin by acknowledging that our reservation was on Thanksgiving, and I fully understand that restaurants are extremely busy on holidays. However, even with that in mind, the experience we had was far below what should be expected, especially at this price point.
Our server was noticeably inattentive throughout the meal. The table next to us had ordered several expensive bottles of wine, and it was clear that he was prioritizing them over his other guests. Our tuna appetizer was completely flavorless aside from a strong fishiness—there was no seasoning or spice to give it any depth.
We rarely saw our server, and eventually we felt we had no choice but to order all of our food at once. Drinks took 20–25 minutes to arrive. We repeatedly had to ask for water refills, and it took over 35 minutes before bread was brought to the table, despite being told it would come right away. Dirty plates sat in front of us for most of the evening because he never cleared them. Another server actually did more for our table than our assigned waiter.
What made this even more disappointing was the complete lack of engagement from management. As a former restaurant manager myself, I know the importance of checking in with guests, especially on a busy holiday. The managers walked back and forth between the kitchen and bar all night but never stopped at a single table—not ours or anyone else’s. We complained more than once, yet no manager ever came by to address the issue.
For a bill totaling six to seven hundred dollars for five people, plus tip, this was an unacceptable experience

This was the WORST service in the history of dining in my 30 years living in Austin. It was downright shameful!!! I will NEVER be back!!! Good riddance!!

I gave it two stars overall because the filet mignon was excellent (although it was rare rather than medium rare as ordered). The service and (recommended) sea bass were extremely poor. I was in the restaurant for over two hours despite having a reservation. The hostesses were not honest about how long the wait would be. The waiter offered a free desert to placate us but went ahead and put the desert on the bill. I will not eat here again when there are so many fine dining experiences to be had in Austin.
