We moved from Austin 7 years ago to retire in Mexico. The East Side was always “our area” and the section we called home in Austin. We come back to visit for a month or so each year and so much has changed in this city we love.
While The Cavalier was not here when we left, it now welcomes us home each year when we return. It reminds us so much of the old Austin we love! Affordable, good tasting food, fantastic drinks that don’t break the bank and a kind caring staff who make you feel like family!
A special thanks to Tom, Mike, Rachel, Charlotte & Hunter! Y’all made The Cavalier feel like our home away from home during our 2025 visit. Your kindnesses, service and great attitudes overwhelmed us this trip!

Y’all have the best fried chicken in Austin in my humble opinion and the new Chicken Sando was too good, I ate the whole glorious thing in 2 minutes (not saying it’s small cause it’s pretty huge).

This place is awesome! They source premium beef from Creek Stone farms and the quality is obvious once you try the burger. Highly recommend. There are dart boards, a pool table, and TVs- great experience all around.

Found this place accidentally on a breakfast burrito journey that did end in breakfast burritos. Sat at the bar at 2pm on a Sunday. Got a mimosa and the pork belly Benedict. It was awesome. Seems like a chill place where neighborhood people hang out. I'll definitely be back for a chill Sunday funday.
