Generally the hotel is good and the service inside is great. However, the hotel needs to hire the receptionist outside properly. I had an encounter yesterday on Saturday night, where I wanted to go the the Driskill bar, and the person outside was extremely rude, which is not expected out of hotel this caliber.
It made me feel, not come back to the hotel anymore!
God tier hotel
We love the Driskill. The hotel staff are always professional , prompt and friendly, the hotel is immaculate and the architecture and history of the oldest hotel West of the Mississippi that just happens to be in Austin is stunning. It's our favorite place to stay while in Austin.
A great historic hotel in downtown Austin. It has been beautifully maintained and the staff was great. Highly recommend. Bonus... right on 6th st for a ton of night entertainment.
This was the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff were amazing. The cafe breakfast was excellent. It’s close to almost everything you want to visit. Our room was beautiful and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We highly recommend
So nice place I am enjoying very much.
Beautiful, historic hotel in the center of the action!
On 7/19 at 11:00 PM I tried to access the lobby to reach the bar as I did already in the past.
The door man on Brazos street stopped me and told me that I could not enter without any further justification, when I asked about opening hours and if bar was only for customers, instead of any polite answer I received only sarcastic comments.
I reminded the doorman to be more professional since I was just asking for fair info and I got INSULTED and called “Dumbass”.
I never received a similar treatment in any other luxury hotel around the world.
I strongly suggest to review your personnel selection at the entrance.

Beautiful historic hotel in downtown Austin.
What a beautiful hotel
The cafe is very good!
Beautiful historic hotel built in 1886 in the heart of Austin. It's within walking distance to bars, restaurants and the famous Congress Street bat bridge.
Beautiful hotel! With an amazing history behind it, both Texan and American.
Stayed here for a night and there was a lot of construction going on but weren’t impacted by it. Only gripe was that the hotel tour that was part of the “additional charges” was cancelled and the bar was out of order. Regardless, the place is very elegant and the staff were friendly.
Every part of the hotel felt like a trip to a museum, and there were plenty more to see. The balconies overlooking both Sixth and Brazos Street were truly spectacular. Late night dinner on the balcony felt secluded even though you were on top of sixth street. The architecture both inside and outside were beautiful.
Overall, it was an amazing trip. Would try again once the construction is over to get the full experience.
