Very unique atmosphere - historic hotel and rooms, hall reflect this
Had a great time staying in the 525 room! Great staff great great bartenders! Homeless is an issue in the area but all in all great experience!

We did a room block here for our wedding in January. While the hotel itself was magnificent and grand beyond measure, the standard rooms are much smaller than we were expecting, especially for the price, but that is normal for historic hotels. They had gorgeous high ceilings and the decorations were lovely, but certain things like the bathrooms and the small, slow elevators reminded you that you were in a historic hotel. We were upgraded to a suite for the wedding and it was magical. My bridesmaids and I had a fabulous time getting ready for the wedding that morning. There were a total of 10 ladies in the room and we did not feel cramped. The staff was very helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. I would recommend this hotel for special occasions when in the Austin area.
Noteworthy details: Historic portraits and details throughout public areas.

The Bellman named Ammon is the best Bellman I've ever had. l've gone to well over a dozen hotels in my lifetime for work and the confidence and kindness from Ammon has left a lasting impression on me. The night before my stay I tipped my waitress all the cash I had left in my wallet so I wan unable to give Ammon any tip for his outstanding service to me. He answered every question of mine perfectly and knew where everything was in my room, he even offered to grab me ice, a lot of other bellman's l've had have never been so considerate to me, and this was all after I informed him that I did not have any cash to hand out. When he told me it was only his first week working at the Driskill I was astounded. He was phenomenal, bravo Ammon; Keep up the good work.

I'm sure this was once a beautiful and luxurious place to stay, but now it feels run down.
Our room has the strangest layout. You could hear every footstep of the guests above and the whole place shakes until late if it's a night when the ballroom is in use. The new hotels springing up in Austin offer a much more comfortable experience. Only stay here if you want to ghost hunt.
Bring earplugs.
Good location.

Spent a weekend here last month. Thoughtfully renovated historic hotel with crisp interior room colors and warm public spaces. Elegant. Comfortable. Excellent coffee shop/bakery and active afternoon bar scene for the over 50 demographic. Great location for walking Austin.

Beautiful and very historic hotel however I had a very negative encounter with an individual named “Jeff”. He ran the operations side of the hotel. I asked him where the hotel's second floor is and he asked as if I was not part of the hotel and repeatedly asked for my hotel reservation/key. I found it disrespectful and racist as he wanted to know if I had an actual “key” to the hotel even though I had been there all weekend since Thursday afternoon for a conference. This led to a prominent negative connotation of the service provided by the hotel. I highly urge you to run a prominent check on the ethics of the hotel. I'm a well-distanced traveler (50+ countries) but never experienced customer service like this. I hope no one ever experienced very low disrespect and governance from Jeff who disrespected me, was rude, and lacked social conduct of communication with me.

I am very pleased with my first experience at The Driskill Hotel. My best friend and I were visiting for a girl's trip and it was her first time. I was first greeted by Paul (operations director) via email. Cesar at the valet helped bring our luggage in and he was very friendly. Guilliana (I hope I spelled her name right) officially checked us in and she had such a warm and fun personality! The location is ideal- within walking distance of a lot of food, restaurants, and bars. I was extremely grateful to find out we were upgraded to a premium suite (I hold globalist status) and received a welcome treat- The Driskills’ famous chocolate cake. At breakfast, Scott came by multiple times to make sure we were doing okay and taken care of. Everything we ordered at breakfast (main dish, pastry, and coffee) was excellent! I can’t remember the last time I had a tasteful breakfast/brunch. Thank you to everyone who made this stay memorable. I hope to bring my husband here one day.

Cannot be trusted with your credit card and terrible customer service handling their mismanagement. The hotel charged me for services they cannot even explain (stated that I "should" not have been charged; but I was...and they will not provide a receipt nor issue a refund...told me to take it up with my bank). Further, they charged for room service that I did not order. They did refund those charges, but didn't seem too bothered that I got woken up in the middle of the night by the individual trying to bring the room service I DID NOT ORDER. The hotel itself is unique, but the spaces are quirky and not very functional. The place is not clean and the stairwell smells like open sewer. The reason I know what the stairwell is like is that they only had 1 functional elevator while I was there. The place is just tired. And the people are untrustworthy. Would rate zero stars overall if I could... Save yourself a lot of grief and go elsewhere.
Rooms: Tired and dirty...quirky spaces that are not functional or comfortable.
