We did a room block here for our wedding in January. While the hotel itself was magnificent and grand beyond measure, the standard rooms are much smaller than we were expecting, especially for the price, but that is normal for historic hotels. They had gorgeous high ceilings and the decorations were lovely, but certain things like the bathrooms and the small, slow elevators reminded you that you were in a historic hotel. We were upgraded to a suite for the wedding and it was magical....
The Bellman named Ammon is the best Bellman I've ever had. l've gone to well over a dozen hotels in my lifetime for work and the confidence and kindness from Ammon has left a lasting impression on me. The night before my stay I tipped my waitress all the cash I had left in my wallet so I wan unable to give Ammon any tip for his outstanding service to me. He answered every question of mine perfectly and knew where everything was in my room, he even offered to grab me...
Spent a weekend here last month. Thoughtfully renovated historic hotel with crisp interior room colors and warm public spaces. Elegant. Comfortable. Excellent coffee shop/bakery and active afternoon bar scene for the over 50 demographic. Great location for walking Austin.
