We got the bill where they put price for bottle of wine even though we had only one glass. We have to wait to resolve this mistake. We also wanted to pay separately but they put all amount in one card (we mentioned that we pay separately)

We came to the Proper for a couple of cocktails. The Quill Room on the 2nd/3rd floor was charming, sultry and vibey. We decided to sit outside on the private patio, which was surrounded by greenery and had fans.
Michelle was AMAZING. She was attentive, aware of us being the only customers on the patio and she even went above & beyond to try and find rosemary for a cocktail I was interested in. She really made our experience exceptional. 10/10 will come back!

Everything here was incredible. The service, drinks, the appetizers, and ambiance. Loved that they could make us drinks that weren't on the menu. People watching was a 100. Next time I'm in Austin would love to go back.

My family and I went to The Quill Room recently and it's taken me a few days to pull together all my thoughts. First, I will note that the drinks are a little bit more on the expensive side, even for Austin. However, each drink was perfectly crafted and delicious.
The main aspect of what makes The Quill Room so incredible was the staff. From the person who greeted us at the door, do our server, to even the busers, the experience was absolutely incredible.
Our server Michelle went above and beyond to make sure we were all well taken care of, that we liked our drinks, and that we had everything we needed. The atmosphere and service worked together to create a feeling of both ease and high quality care.
Yes there is a 4% wellness charge, but the staff was definitely worth it. I hope that the managers and the staff continue to excel at the kind of service we experienced and that 4% addition will always be well earned. I will definitely be back.

My husband and I really went to The Quill Room to see local singer/songwriter duo. We decided to get there early and eat before the show started. The menu is very limited (especially if you have food allergies). I know the Proper Hotel is super fancy, but the prices are outrageous for the quantity. We had 3 drinks (two glasses of wine and one NA cocktail) and three appetizers. The bill was $170 before tip (and we tip 20% and higher). The valet is over $30. We basically paid Moody Center prices for a hotel show! There were a lot of staff present and our table was kept clean, but like most places in Austin, the server was too cool to be serving tables and wasn't very helpful or knowledgeable. We loved seeing our local musicians but if we ever go back, we will eat elsewhere first and opt for water! The atmosphere is lovely. The hotel and the spaces are beautiful, no arguing that. The lobby bar/restaurant was very busy and also deafening. You would have to shout across the table to hear anything. The Quill room was a bit quieter, but also not as well attended.

Don't go to the Quill Room if you expect to hear the music. Clientele was much more interested in hearing their own (loud) voices, and the performers are given only a small space in corner of room to play, almost as if they're an afterthought. No efforts are made by management to mitigate noise from revelers or to steer people who don't come for the music into the other hotel's bars. Drinks and food are overpriced and good, but not great. Wouldn't mind paying the steep prices if I could have actually heard the performances.

Quill has an amazing vibe, incredible drinks, and a DJ that will keep the party going. However the highlight of our trip was the amazing service. Michelle not only guided us through apps and drinks (night after night) but also personally made us drinks to meet our tastes. Thanks for making our trip to Austin memorable!
