Stopped by The Tavern with the family after a day exploring Austin, great decision. Laid back vibe, solid beer selection, and the burgers hit the spot. My daughter loved the giant pretzel, and the staff was super friendly. TVs everywhere, so I didn’t miss the game either. Classic dad win. We’ll be back.

The Tavern is basically running a parking scam. Their lot is right next to Waterloo Records and looks like it’s part of the same lot, but it’s not. The signs saying it’s only for Tavern customers are tiny and easy to miss.
An employee responsible for booting cars was present and visibly watched us park and walk into Waterloo without offering any warning or clarification. As soon as we entered the store, he placed a sticker on our car and booted it and charged us $100. It was clear he was waiting for us to leave the vehicle to issue the boot, rather than informing us of the restriction.
He even admitted he boots a ton of cars every day because people don’t notice the signs. If we’d known or been warned, we never would’ve parked there. It feels like they’re taking advantage of visitors just to make money off unsuspecting people. Don’t come to this scamming restaurant, they take advantage of people to make extra money.

I went in and got a drink here, only to come back and find my car booted for supposedly “leaving the property” even though you have to cross the street to enter the establishment. The attendant showed up with a card reader in hand and refused to hear me out, forcing me to pay $100 to have my own vehicle released. Even worse, the notice placed on my window listed one reason for the boot, but the official receipt listed another (“Non-Customer”), which is deceptive and inconsistent. This kind of predatory enforcement is unacceptable, and I will be filing a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. You’re better off spending your time and money elsewhere than supporting a place tied to practices like this.
Been to The Tavern many times but wanted to mention the excellent bangers & mash from Saturday night Longhorn watching . Two giant sausages & lots of fresh veggies & mashed potatoes. Giant portion,
