Went to South by. Absolutely fantastic venue. Multiple stages, multiple shows. Really great atmosphere.

Volstead is a great little spot sharing a back patio with Hotel Vegas. There is a food truck that's pretty good, and hotel Vegas always has good bands. They often have bands that share the back patio. Numerous events happen there all the time. Take a friend and go see some music. Volstead will occasionally/ often have a DJ bumping some good dancing tunes. See you get an electronic element in contrast to Hotel Vegas live bands. Usually when hotel Vegas has a cover, Volstead will frequently still be free. And the patio will be free.

The Vixens of Volstead brunch is a must-visit for fans of Volstead and the Vixens! The show was fantastic, and we loved the sandwich offered at the pop-up food stall. However, there are a few suggestions for improvement. While they're pushing the drinks, it would be great to have more nibbles available. After we all devoured the sandwich, it would have been nice to have other options. We understand the limitations of the makeshift stove but since we came thinking about "brunch" and thought we will have other things to nibble on while waiting for the performance to start. One thing to note is the timing. We arrived at 12 pm when the doors opened, but the show didn't start until around 1:40 pm. They advertised that show starts at 1pm. The first round of performances seemed to be focused mainly on gathering tips, but things picked up in the second + round/s, and it turned into a real show then! The dog-friendly show and venue are also fantastic additions, and I'll definitely be back, but next time, I'll know what to expect and come prepared!

Went here for Fat Tuesday Mardi Gra celebration with some friends for drinks. Went out to the patio for the live music and the atmosphere was spectacular. The mix of people was beautiful. Service was stunning. A wonderful night at this venue.

First off, I love Volstead, they have great shows and event. This is about the brunch only. A group of us wanted to go to a Drag Brunch and I had previously been to an amazing drag show here before and suggested Volstead because it was a brunch as well and I have never had the food here. I looked at the website and it clearly states "Brunch provided by our food truck, Clandestino". When we all got there, we noticed that the bar was not set up and the food truck was not open. We thought they were just behind, no big deal. When the bar opened we asked when the food truck will be open and the bar manager said that there are tacos and no truck. So I said, this is a drag brunch with no brunch? She said yes. We all did not eat breakfast because we wanted brunch!! So we settled for a mediocre Taco Deli taco and went elsewhere to eat after the show. The bar manager was the bartender and she was super sweet. But the one thing I that will disappoint me and keep myself and others from coming back is false advertising. I know that life happens, but If you are no longer having a "brunch", then update your website/social media accordingly so people that planned on coming for this can make other plans, its just common courtesy to your customers and hurts the credibility of the business. Now, lets talk about the drag show. It was absolutely amazing! The queens were really late, but if you are privy to "drag time" then it shouldn't surprise you, and we were ok with it. We ate our tacos and had cocktails while waiting. We will absolutely come back for another show, but if you are looking for a Drag Brunch, I would say pick from one of at least 30 in Austin that will serve you an actual brunch.

I'm starting to realize I'm just not an Eastside girly, as the Volstead Lounge/Hotel Vegas is supposedly THE place to go for vibes... but every time I go, I just want to... go... somewhere else. Volstead is connected to Hotel Vegas, which is also connected together by a patio. There's always tons to see, but the music here is more indie. Also, don't bother requesting songs if there's a DJ, there's a "No requests from the DJ" policy here. Drinks are your average drinks at a bar, nothing that is crafted here.

We came here on a Thursday night after purchasing tickets for the much hyped comedy show. There were about 6-7 groups of people in the audience, couples, friends and one couple with their parents. No one person there got a single laugh out from the evening after being out $20 per person (tickets, beers, tips, parking). I wish they put as much effort in vetting the performers as they did marketing the event. There were 4 comedians if I recall correctly and not one of them could get the audience laughing or even smiling or nodding. I respect how difficult this profession is but I think asking people to buy tickets, setting high expectations in ads, and then not being able to deliver is disappointing. If it was setup as some folks testing new jokes, it would be one thing. But to pitch them as seasoned professionals was a mistake. There were only 2 tables setup and 4 stools at the bar - 2 groups just stood the whole show. The MC dropped his beer on me while walking by and didn't even stop to apologize. It's like no one cared as long as they got the money paid in advance.

The bartenders weren't satisfied with their tip and refused further service. They are rude and ungrateful and probably racist. Go to another bar if you're black to spend your money. I gave him $5 for shots he told all bartenders not to service. I was not drunk he was rude, basis And white he had no reason to so no.

I've been a fan of Volstead for a long time.. they have entertaining events, DJs, ambiance, lots of outdoor patio seating, and a dance crowd indoors (at night). They have a free drag brunch every Sunday (bring $?), and their frozen drinks are ?

The staff made great cocktails, the entertainment was top notch and I love the atmosphere. Best of all when I bought cigarettes and didn’t have a lighter the General Manager Ravi was so kind and gave me one. I love Volstead.

Fun, but it was way overcrowded. Got drinks pretty quickly, the fans definitely helped the heat.

Finally a bar on the east side that remembers that the east side used to be run by us Latinos. On the inside they attended the white kids. On the outside they had an amazing Latin DJ and she was killing it! She played music from all Latin genres. It felt like what the Eastside should be, a balance of the old and the new community.

It's a wildly diverse facility. Walk in and it's a tight bar with loud music and bridal parties, but walk all the way to the back and outside and you have an open courtyard of festival grandeur. You'll find a stage, a few bars, picnic benches, people selling crafts, and even a fortune teller, on this night.Care to buy mixed tapes, anyone?

Amazing place, good music, good prices… but you seriously need more bathrooms
