Had the Italian meal and it was as delicious as I remembered when I was last here. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Good food prepared with fresh ingredients.
Airport prices suck but the sub was amazing nonetheless. I almost got another sub to take home with me on the plane lol
couldn’t hear the guy over his speaker playing person music. Dropped a tomato from my sandwich, acknowledged it, then didn’t replace it. Cut the sandwich with a butter spreader and split the sandwich in multiple places. Honestly one of the most baffling experiences even for airport service standards.
The young woman who “helped” us was so rude. Zero eye contact and she kept talking over us. Rudest encounter during our entire Austin visit. The older woman running the cash register was friendly but if she was the manager she should’ve sent the other one home.
Completely wrong Order, asked them for the Turkish Delight and gave me whatever they felt like.
Just like subway but the owner was incredibly personable and very kind.
The teo people working were rude and unfriendly. No wonder they were not busy.
I love thunderclouds, but this airport location has a much smaller menu, as well as no seating. If you’re looking for something to grab and run, this is fine, but if you have an hour to kill, I would go someplace else.
I understand the airport food mentality and that yeah it’s food on the go blahx3 but I be damn! Can there be just a teeny tiny bit of pride and care for what you do if you “work” in a customer service environment? If you don’t want to be there, stay at home. Austin airport is the location, Terminal B. I had never frequented the franchise and passing through decided to grab a sandwich for me and my wife. Nobody in line, so I thought this would be a nice place to go. WRONG! This should have been the first indication to keep walking. 1st the dude behind the counter the taking order may have been a mime because I had to literally stand there and read his lips to know if he said something. After the 1st sandwich his cohort stepped in looked at him like What the Hell dude and finished taking the orders. As we move down the assembly line of sandwich making I noticed his teammate was cleaning off the condiment containers which theoretically isn’t a bad thing in a food establishment. She had on gloves, using a towel. 👍🏾 the downside is when the samdwich got to her, she just dropped the cleaning rag picked up the sandwiches and added the remainder of the toppings. 🤯 Yes! That is correct. Dropped the cleaning rag along with whatever chemicals it had in it and went to grab the last toppings, cut the sandwich then wrap and pass to the cashier. Did you see how contaminated she just made the food prep area? I think a customer service training class and Serve Safe course would be beneficial to the crew. The cashier is what earned them a star, he seemed to be completing multiple tasks and came from stocking shelves to cash us out. He was polite, vocalized the price and informed us of the extras that were included with the price and where they were located. We politely grabbed our food without a scene boarded the plane trashing those sandwiches in route in sheer disbelief of what had just happened. SMH It’s better to laugh than cry about it. They need help.
Great, consistent sandwiches. Fairly priced for an airport location.

I was craving a sandwich and came across Thundercloud Subs at the Austin airport so we decided to try it. We ordered the Austin Club sub ($15.50), which comes with a bag of chips of your choice and a drink. We chose Garden Salsa Sun Chips and added a Love Street Blonde beer for an extra $3, though we were required to open the beer in front of the cashier, which was a bit odd. We also asked for gloves and had our sandwich cut in half, which made eating and cleanup much easier.
For the Austin Club sub, we opted for white bread and added ham. However, when we opened it, we noticed several issues: the bread wasn't toasted, the meat portions were skimpy, and the chicken looked more like white ham. The sandwich was smaller than expected and very basic--something I could have grabbed pre-made elsewhere. Although it didn't taste bad, for same price point, I could get a better tasting & customizable foot long sub at Subways.
I ordered a Lady Bird. It was missing bacon, avocado, or jalapeños (all key ingredients). I took it back and they made me a new sandwich. The order was messed up in the same exact way, but the sandwich maker seemed too overworked to care. I decided not to go a third time. That's too bad considering I have never had issues with ThunderCloud and I really wanted to find a food establishment in ABIA that is actually decent.
The tip option for pickup only service detracts from the experience. It makes me less likely to come back.
I have never had a bad Thundercloud in 40 years until now. The absolute worst sandwich I have ever had was at this airport location. I asked for mayo and spicy mustard but none got on the sandwich. The avocado was old and brown and tasted bad. The bread was not fresh. I was very disappointed. Very.
Do yourself a favor and never visit this location.

Well, I am a lifelong Thunder Cloud fan and frequently visit the one in the airport almost on a weekly basis. Not anymore. I noticed the young woman slicing tomatoes taken directly from the produce box. I asked her if the tomatoes were washed, she looked at me and said they are already prewashed prior to delivery and they don’t need to wash them. The CDC has some strict guidance of washing produce prior to serving for restaurants that Thunder cloud may want to invest in training their people. With so many issues with food chain contamination and immune issues, I am very saddened that a beloved Austin company is lax on its health protocols.
