Only reason I gave 4 versus 5 stars is that the only thing I could think of while eating my sub was how much better it would taste if it was toasted. It was a great sub and they don’t have a mechanism to toast subs, just a microwave (I asked). I’m a sucker for a nice toasted bun and melted cheese on a sub, otherwise, the food was delicious, the staff super nice and helpful, there was plenty of clean tables and prices were better than most of your common chain restaurants.I sat on the patio outside which was nice as well.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and breadless options availableParking: Limited parking up front, but there is additional parking in the back shared with the other restaurants in this triangle

Stopped by to pick up some subs for me and my boyfriend and met the sweetest prettiest girl at the counter. I didn’t get her name but she had lots of nose piercings, and Necklaces and cute bangs. She made great conversation, and honestly made my day, and the sandwiches were bomb!

My first time to ever have Thundercloud, after being in Austin for two years, was last Thursday.Devin was fantastic. He walked me through each step and we even had great conversation while he made my sandwich. I am very glad that my very first experience included Devin!And, my large sub cost less than a small sub at other shops and that included the tip! ?And, the prices are fantastic. I got a large sub for less than a small at other shops and that included tip!

Thundercloud's S Lamar location has been my go-to spot for over 10 years, but the recent decline is disappointing. Attempts to speak with the manager have been futile, as he's consistently absent, leaving the staff to make decisions for themselves and the store. I consistently get vague excuses about his imminent return. This lack of managerial presence reflects in the worn-out appearance of the employees, often dressed in sweatpants and resembling as if they just rolled out of bed. Regardless of warm greetings, the overall atmosphere has become awkward, especially when inquiring about the manager. It's disheartening to witness this downfall, and after numerous disappointing experiences, I'm considering not returning to this location. Perhaps a more active manager is the remedy needed to revive the once-favorite spot

Don't go here unless you want your stomach to hurt. I threw away half my sandwich because it was grossing me out. My boyfriend finished his meatball sub and his stomach has hurt ever since. GROSS
The sandwich was perfectly constructed by a cool, friendly, and down to earth dude. Every person working seemed cool and talkative... Got sandwich, paid, and was talked into staying there to eat to beat this heat!!!!! Service was quick with everyone making what you want on your sandwich...

Still a good deal, even with today's economy. My go to is the small tuna salad with an extra scope of tuna! Small but fills the tummy plenty. Salt, pepper, provolone, mayo & mustard, onions & tomatoes. My server today even went to the point of dicing the tomato so that it would not squish out the tuna. It did anyway but then I scope it up on a nacho Doritos and continue to munch! Good food!Parking: Lamar location close to half price books and Phoenicia's has parking but it can get tight, plus the shape of the lot and other buildings make it fun to find parking if it's pretty full. great sandwich
