Tasty food. Portions on the smallish side. A bit slow for coffee refills. Outside dining can be odorous if the breeze is blowing the stink from the dumpster.

This place is so good. You will need a reservation if you want to eat inside so make sure you plan ahead. The wait staff is very attentive and quick to refill coffee and drinks. One tip, these pancakes are big as yo face. Order one and see how you do. If you order two you will probably be taking left overs home. They are fluffy, huge, and good.
Well done badger crew.

If you haven’t been to this place you need to go! Great quality food and amazing service. Gina, our server, took the best care of us and went above and beyond. Ask for Gina when you go!

70s era diner vibes are as strong as the food is delicious. What a kickass little place! Glad I stopped in, will definitely be back!
...updated here 2/24/26 from previous 5-star rating:
I've been back a few times and enjoyed it, but today was not enjoyable. The service was so inattentive and non-existant today that I had to say something. I had both the manager and the server in front of me. While informing them of the problem, the server walks off without apology. The manager comps my check, which was the very least they could do, but was also equally responsible for the totally dropped ball on the early shift. I went out of my way to go there today, and I won't bother next time. Lost a loyal customer!

I've been to the Toasty Badger several times and had a wide range of experiences. My first visit was last year and was excellent and so were several of my follow up visits until I got caught off guard by their changing their business hours from 8AM-4PM to 7AM-3PM. My next visit after that was incredibly disappointing. My Smash Burger featured two Slider-sized patties with an inch of empty bun all around them. I stopped going there for a while until recently when I gave them another chance. My most recent visit was an almost return to form. The burger patties were a bit bigger but amount of fries was drastically reduced. I suppose this is all understandable in this era of Trumpflation. I can stand to lose a few pounds so fewer fries is less satisfying but better for my health.

Liz’s the Gm was great and made our experience eating here a good vibe!
The wait time went by really quick and chairs in the front to wait made it comfortable. Everyone there was friendly and the food was really good, recommend the coffee!

holy buss this place had some of the best breakfast in Austin. My gf and I came in at around noon for brunch so it was very busy but we got seated inside right away. There is not a lot of parking options but HEB is a couple blocks down so🙂✌️Our server was super friendly and the food tasted very good. Will be returning 👅

fantastic breakfast as always, I always come here for the sourdough toast and coffee but today the cold brew espresso martini (sub tequila) blew my mind. also, my server Gina was very attentive and elevated the experience with the chat and level of service. 10/10 experience and will be coming back for Gina!

If you want a good breakfast, come to Toasty Badger. The food was good and the service was amazing. If I could I would give this 10 stars but I unfortunately can't. I would come all the way to Austin just for breakfast. 5 stars I will be definitely be coming here again.

By far one of our favorite breakfast spots! The staff is so friendly and the food is great! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My wife is gluten free so she thrives on their gluten free pancakes. They also have specialty dishes each month that are definitely worth trying.

Attention owner: I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience genuinely ruined what should have been a simple breakfast.
Our server, Gina P, communicated our order so poorly that both of us were confused about what we were being charged for. We ordered Classic Griddle Cakes and discussed flavors, then changed one to the February special. During this explanation, Gina went back and forth about how many pancakes were included, mentioned ordering a side, then said there would be four pancakes. Based on that conversation, it was completely reasonable for us to believe we had placed one order, not two.
When the bill arrived, we were charged twice for pancakes. When we asked for clarification, Gina responded in a flat, dismissive, almost irritated tone and simply said, “Yeah, it’s two orders,” with no attempt to acknowledge the confusion or explain where the miscommunication happened.
Two of the mixed fruit pancakes were completely untouched. We politely asked if they could be removed due to the misunderstanding. Gina showed zero empathy and said she would “ask the manager.” Thankfully, the manager Liz handled the situation professionally and kindly and offered half off the second order, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, Gina’s attitude only worsened after that. Her body language, tone, and behavior made us feel blamed for her lack of clarity. When we asked for to-go box, she placed dirty napkins directly on top of the 1/2 pancake we intended to take home, which was shocking and unhygienic. She then told us, again, curtly, that if we wanted to take the untouched blueberry pancakes, we would have to pay full price, despite the manager already honoring a discount due to the confusion.
When we tried to understand what she meant, she simply walked away rudely mid-conversation.
I have never experienced service this rude, dismissive, or careless. Mistakes happen. Miscommunication happens. But the complete lack of accountability, kindness, or basic professionalism is what made this experience so upsetting.
Ironically, Gina has a tattoo that says “be kind to every kind.” I hope she eventually lives up to it.
Thank you to Liz for handling the situation with grace. Unfortunately, the server’s behavior ensured we won’t be returning.

The staff at Toasty Badger is amazing and they do a great job squeezing guests in even when they're busy. I wish they would bring back the winter grain bowl with the black rice since it's my partners absolute favorite. Otherwise, this is a great spot that I will definitely return to.
Yum food & super friendly service today! Highly recommend!

This was my second time back to Toasty Badger and I still was underwhelmed by the food. I went with the recommendation of biscuits and gravy and felt they lacked a lot of flavor and the texture was more dense that I would prefer. My husband got the classic breakfast and the sausage was great. The food was quick and the wait time was less than 20 minutes on a busy Saturday morning. The interior has a really cute vibe and all of the staff we interacted with were incredibly friendly.
