Had Maya as our server for the first time, and it was like she was reading our minds! She was always coming around to check on us even though we were in a remote corner. We really appreciate her attention and personality!

Stopped by True Food Kitchen at The Domain and ordered a couple burgers — and wow, phenomenal experience from start to finish.

The burgers were cooked perfectly — juicy, flavorful, and balanced. Nothing felt greasy or overdone. The bun was fresh, the toppings were crisp, and every bite tasted intentional. You can genuinely tell they prioritize quality ingredients. It’s the kind of meal that satisfies you without making you feel weighed down afterward.

The atmosphere was just as impressive. Clean, modern, and bright with a relaxed but upscale feel. It’s the kind of place that works for a casual lunch, a business meeting, or a laid-back dinner. The patio area especially adds to the vibe at The Domain.

Service was friendly and efficient — attentive without hovering. Food came out hot and timely, and everything felt organized and polished.

If you’re in Austin and looking for a spot that delivers flavor, freshness, and a great overall experience, True Food Kitchen absolutely delivers. I’ll definitely be back.

Edamame dumplings and the cauliflower are great and so is the lasagna al pesto. I really like the spicy clean margarita as well.

The Life of some Guy

This was, without question, one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, made worse by the fact that it was entrusted with a 7:45 p.m. Valentine’s Day reservation.

The evening began in chaos. The hostess stand area is far too small to accommodate even a modest crowd, and with roughly 20 guests waiting, it felt disorganized and poorly managed. We were seated on time, which initially gave me hope. Unfortunately, that was the high point of the evening.

It took ten minutes for our server to greet us, at which time we were immediately informed that both the kitchen and bar were severely backed up, with some guests waiting over an hour for food. We chose to be understanding and proceed with the prix fixe menu, only to discover that two of the three appetizers and two of the five entrées were already unavailable.

Attempting to pivot to the full menu proved even more frustrating. Nearly half of it was unavailable, either because the pizza oven was broken or because key ingredients were simply out of stock. Steak, lasagna, salmon, all unavailable. On one of the busiest and most predictable dining nights of the year.

To be clear, this was not a service issue. Our server handled an impossible situation professionally. This was a failure of leadership and operational planning. Valentine’s Day is not a surprise event. Running out of core menu items, operating with broken essential equipment, and offering a prix fixe menu that cannot actually be executed reflects a complete lack of preparation and oversight.

Restaurants live and die by trust, especially on milestone occasions. This experience demonstrated that management is either unwilling or unable to anticipate demand, prepare inventory, or ensure functional equipment on critical nights. That is not a minor oversight; it is fundamental incompetence in restaurant operations.

I will not be returning, nor would I recommend this establishment for any meaningful occasion unless there is clear evidence of significant operational change.

Atmosphere is great! Food is not good at all in my opinion. I wanted the Margarita pizza but when I ordered it, the waiter said “oh so sorry, the pizza oven just broke” and had to settle the chicken tenders and fries which tasted like it came from a freezer. The service was VERY SLOW! Now granted it was Valentine’s Day but it’s not an excuse to keep us waiting. We were there for 2 hours with constant slow service and only saw our waiter twice over that two hours. We had drinks and entrees only! We finally flagged down a different waiter and asked for the check. This was also our first time coming to this place but sadly will not be returning :(

The place itself is nice, the service is great, and the staff is very welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing.
Steak and fries dish had a piece of meat that was almost impossible to chew and completely unseasoned. The jambalaya pasta was a total disaster — bland and tasteless. The burger was small and meat lacked flavor. Even the salad was poorly executed, with crunchy, undercooked quinoa and bok choy.
I experienced stomach issues after eating there, which I’m not exaggerating about. I would only come back for a very good reason...

True Food Kitchen is my go-to for a reason! The food is always fresh and lovely, and the menu is the perfect blend of healthy and delicious. I usually order the margherita pizza (10/10 every time!), but I recently tried the Matcha Horchata—it is so unique and yummy.
A huge shoutout to Brooke, who was incredibly accommodating when I had a small issue. She resolved it promptly and made sure we were taken care of. Great food and even better service!

I did not care for the dressing that was on my salad.
I ordered ranch which was never brought, but they charged me 1.00.
May not mean much to many people.
However, to a new customer it's the little things that bring me back as a new customer 😀
