They have shut down permanently. Never actually tried their food, but tried to yesterday and was disappointed

Pretty tasty both times I've come here! Food truck in the parking lot of Hopsquad. Parking is impossible but the ambience is cool here. Wish there was more seating/tables at hopsquad on busy days so you can calmly eat your Tsuke Honten food. They use a simple check out system on an iPad and then it texts you when your food is ready.

Finally got to try Tsuke Honten, and wow it was good. Superb flavors. Had the chicken sliders, karaage chicken and chili prawns. The chicken sliders were quite good, unique with a light but spicy and perfectly fried chicken, topped with a tasty wasabi slaw (wasabi if I recall correctly, I wolfed these down). Exemplary take on a chicken slider. At the end of the day though, a slider's a slider - you know what you're getting into. On to the next. The karaage was fried well with a delightful crunchy texture and a strong flavor reminiscent of nuớc chấm, a Vietnamese fish sauce mixture, which can be off-putting to some but will overjoy discerning palates. It reminds me of the crispy chicken wings with garlic fish sauce from Phở Phong Luu, but not saucy and you don't feel sh*tty afterwards (still love u tho PP Luu, plus yo sticky-ass wings mmm). Also love the spice on this one - tastes and looks like chopped Thai bird's eye chili in there, which got me sweating bullets. Respect. I recommend getting this, but fish and spice on this level, on your chicken? It ain't for the faint of heart! You've been warned. That said, this is among the best fried chicken I've had in Austin. Then there are the chili prawns. The flavor, the texture, the lascivious act of eating it in its entirety, shell and all. Oh lord. This took me back to some of the wonderful flavors I've experienced in SE Asia - star of the show. A nicely balanced meal between the furikake rice and bit of kimchi, which I will come back for without a doubt. The Japanese-SEAsian flavor crossover is a match made in heaven, and it's executed well at Tsuke Honten. Bravo to Mr. Che for a great addition to Austin, very much looking forward to Tsuke Edomae sometime. A request to chef Michael Che and co.: please bring back the Rendang! It's one of my favorites and I'd love to experience y'all's take on it. Cheers

I really wanted to like the place after waiting months and months to try it but it just wasn't as flavorful as you would imagine it to be

I almost don't want to write this because I want it to be my secret spot... but in the name of food-I must. This place is a product of what happens when people who love food cook. Most restaurants are run by people who love money and it's reflected in the food. The flavors were all spot on and was the definition of umami. Not in the sense of just being fast but in its true definition. A harmony of all flavors you want in food. This place is a must try in the Austin area.

Just trying this place for the first time. We had the Chicken sliders and the Chicken Karaage. Both very good but the Karaage was our favorite. Spicy so have plenty of beer on hand. Owners are awesome!.

Easy contactless order process that will text you when the order is ready, outdoor seating with space heaters, and great location next to one other food truck and a open spaced brewery. All to say it's a friendly environment where I don't worry about getting covid. Now for the food! Their Banh seo tacos are a must try! From the first bite, there's so much crunch and texture. I love the crunchy shell, giant shrimp that keep inside its fried shell to prevent a soggy taco, and the yummy sauce. Tip: pour the sauce as you go, instead of dip to prevent losing any toppings this way!)

Always a good time! Portions are very generous and made super fresh. I've gotten the chili shrimp twice and it's very crispy especially since you're supposed to eat the whole thing, with the shell on, and with the head. I would say my two favorites are the shiitake and avocado (seriously don't know how he takes the flavor like that) as well as his take on the banh xeo (Vietnamese crepe with shrimp). Owner is really sweet and shares the extras and when he was running behind he gave us free food for the wait! My only hope is to eventually try his omakase! This place is stationed on the Hopsquad lot, so you can also grab a drink and chill while you're at it.

Their food is so good!!! I never eat prawns whole but this chili oil seasoning was so perfect I couldn’t help myself. The wings were sauced up in a great fish sauce type of seasoning and the rice was good too. I will be back to try everything they roll out. Loved them!

Chef Mike is SO incredibly nice and hospitable, and the food was top notch. We got the chili prawns and karaage to go. Everything is packed with flavor, and I really felt the southeast asian influence on it, which I appreciate as it reminds me of home. I'm very excited to go to their brick and mortar for omakase once covid has calmed down.

I came in for an omakase and it was hands down one of the best food experiences of my life. Such incredible work by chef Mike and his passion for food really shines when you do the omakase with him. Really amazing sushi and food. I’m excited to come again when he opens a brick and mortar. I will be back to try out the food truck.
