I really enjoyed this spot during sxsw. It was a nice quieter haven but also energetic enough that I didn't lose my mojo. It was so great I went back twice. The poboys hit the spot - shrimp, fried green tomato, and hot roast beef - all delicious. Yes, I had friends to share...come on now!The trout dip was excellent! Pro tip - get it with the green Cajun Dill Tators bag of Zapp's instead of regular.Service was great, drinks were great. The only slight negative was the gumbo, while very tasty, was more rice than gumbo.Extra points for Crystal hot sauce though!

This place has an incredible roast beef sandwich. My partner has been able to adventure through the menu and enjoys it all, but I can't miss the opportunity for another roast beef sandwich. It's a comfortable and friendly place.

Lucked out without a reservation getting a table for 2 straight away on a Friday night at 6:30pm during SXSW. I enjoyed the Sports Club at the recommendation of our server, my girlfriend enjoyed the shrimp po boy, and we split fries and a milkshake (orange & cream). Love the historic building and wonderful renovation they did.

Didn't have food just a couple beers seemed like a nice place. This is not a place to go watch a game.

I enjoy bring friends and family to uptown sports on occasion for their Nola inspired dishes and historic ambiance. They have a lovely back patio, great service, historic building. No TVs. Also, we caught happy hour (see menu attached)

The food was marginal but the prices were very high. Particularly they should reconsider the gumbo recipe. Of the 8 people at our table those that ordered gumbo no one finished it. See no need to return. That said we went to Franklin BBQ the next day. Great experience and worth the two hour wait.

Where should I start? There were so many small things wrong with this restaurant, beginning with the name. When I asked about it, a waitress told me that they got a lot of complaints about people coming in to watch a game thinking it's a sports bar. It was a sports bar a very long time ago, but not now. And there are no TVs except a couple tiny vintage ones showing Star Wars etc. So change the name! When we arrived, the sound level was deafening-it was hard to even converse. I guess extreme party sound level is required now to make a restaurant "hip". A sign said wait to be seated, but there is no reception stand. When the host arrived he said there would be a 15 minute wait. That was fine, except there were 7 unoccupied booths and tables in the room, which remained unoccupied the entire time we were there. We were told we could get drinks at the bar and take them outside to some tables on the sidewalk, which we did. The drinks were good, but I thought it was illegal to take alcohol out of a bar, since these tables were not accessible from inside the restaurant or connected to it in any way. (They also misspelled the cocktail Vieux Carre on the drink special chalkboard--chalkboards don't have spellcheck so you actually have to know how to spell things). We were seated in less than 15 minutes, and our waitress immediately began the hard up-sell--can I bring you some apps to get you started?--before we had even looked at the menu. We ordered the gumbo, which was good; shrimp po'boy, which was very good; and the hot roast beef po'boy, which tasted very good, except that it was not hot, or even warm, but room temperature, with no discernible debris, gravy,or horseradish. The rolls are not french bread, but are more like large soft hot dog buns. When we ordered, our waitress immediately asked if we wanted an order of french fries for the table (up-sell), even though french fries are nowhere listed on the menu as snacks or sides. She also informed us that we can get fried shrimp if we want, again nowhere on the menu. On the menu, under Raw Bar, are listed shrimp cocktail, Crab Louie and Smoked Trout Dip, none of which are raw. Also, the two Plateaux (Petite and Grand) are listed as Mkt Price, even though all the components (shrimp, oysters and crab louie) are on the menu at fixed prices. After the waitress tried to sell us on desserts, which we declined, I asked for the check. She came with her handheld and said "that'll be $X". No check so that I could see what I was being charged. I gave her cash, and she left to get change. She returned and placed my change on the table, again with no check or receipt of any kind. This is unacceptable--receipts are required for any business expense, and are necessary to see if any check-padding extras have been added, such as a service charge or employee health fee. Although the food was excellent quality and the prices are fair, we will not be back. I like Aaron, but this is sort of an example of of the Peter Principle. Just because Aaron has the extreme talent to produce the best smoked brisket in the world doesn't mean he is a star at other types of foods and restaurants. All said, this place will probably succeed, being right in the newest eastside alcohol-fueled tourist party zone. C'est la vie. .

Uptown has fantastic sandwiches - their Shrimp Po'boy is outstanding, and I'll be back.Highlights: shrimp poboy and roast pork sando were both excellent. Fries were great. Smoked trout dip was decent.Lowlights: the gumbo was not good. I'm spoiled and biased - my family is from Louisiana. I'm not sure if they burned the roux or something else, but it had a distinct flavor profile and none of us could finish it. The brownie dessert was also surprisingly bad - just a basic brownie with a scoop of ice cream and a few peanuts for $9. It also took 20m to arrive due to a kitchen mistake, but our waitress made up for it.Food delivery was kind of a mess - multiple items delivered to the wrong tables. Not a big deal though and the service was otherwise very pleasant.

Fun ambiance with leather boots and tiled floors with bistro vibes. We arrived midday on a weekend and had no wait to get in. The menu is sandwich-heavy so if that's not what you are looking for - I'd recommend going else where. We ordered the shrimp and fried green tomato po' boys. Both were tasty - nothing out of this world. Fries were perfectly cooked with that extra crisp and not to be missed to accompany whatever you order. Not sure I would come back, but a fun concept.

Have been here a few times and have tried multiple items. This weekend I had the best sandwich I have had in years. The pork sando.. I have not stopped thinking about it. Tender pork, the bun was so soft and the dipping sauce was amazing!

The good:The staff is very friendly and helpful. They made sure we were well taken care of. The space is comfortable, and the ambiance is nice. We liked the service we were given. The bad:We ordered gumbo, a fried oyster poboy, and a surf and turf poboy. The Gumbo was flavorful but finished very salty, making it difficult to eat. Both poboys were incredibly sour, they were far too heavy on the vinegar. We didn’t finish either of the sandwiches, which was disappointing at the $16-20 per sandwich price point.

Food is good, service was a little slow at first, but once we got our server he was great and accommodating. Made honest recommendations that were right on the money!
