Food was good and pretty authentic, the birria was pretty good. Queso was alright. Absolutely loved that incredible watermelon margarita. Wish there had been live music but we weren't there late enough ig. Next week tho ;)
Kid-friendliness: Its a bar on 6th street. Please don't bring your kids here

Love the pastor tacos from here! Great place to grab some drinks and snacks before a night out on 6th. And they also have super fun Mexican karaoke on Friday nights!

This fun, funky spot is as authentic as it gets: it evolved from a street cart, tortillas are homemade, and meat is slow-cooked on a trompo. The simple menu boasts tacos (al pastor, chicken tinga, nopales, and beef with birria subbing in for carne asada at the time of my visit), chips, and drinks.
I opted for one birria and one pastor taco. Both were prepped quickly and served loaded with fillings. The pastor had excellent flavor, and I was sorely tempted to get another. I don’t know how Vaquero Taquero stacks up against other local taquerias, but coming from an out-of-towner with plenty of respectable taco options back home, this place rocks.

Birria taco was good, but extremely small portions for the price. Disappointing experience.

Incredible tacos, made in front of you on the flat top outside. Tortillas are authentic and silly good, Al pastor by far the best taco. Superb out of town experience

Decent food if you’re drunk and it’s 2 am.
Warning - there are some really drunk Hispanic men who have no boundaries and who keep harassing you to buy them free drinks - I relented and bought these two guys a beer but big mistake - they kept hounding me to buy them more drinks through the night till I left.

Stopped here for live music on a Friday night, the food is outside where you order and pay, drinks and band on the inside.
The bands that played were excellent

Came here to support our son and his band. #datura
The vibe was definitely there and service was great. Can't speak on the food as we didn't eat but it did smell amazing!

Amazing all around. The bistek, pastor and chicken tinga were all great but the standout for me was for sure the chicken tinga. Can’t forget how good and refreshing the watermelon margarita was too! Shout out to Miguel and the whole crew!

10/10 must visit if you’re in Austin. The watermelon margarita was spectacular as was all the food. Chicken tinga tacos were a total hit. Miguel was so hospitable and gave us the best service. I could not have asked for a better experience from any restaurant. Will definitely be back soon
