I enjoyed the vegan options and appreciate they are open late! When I went, there were two options that could be made vegan. To veganize, switch to corn tortilla. No crema, queso, or candied pepitas. Still tastes great!!!
Dammmn that's good (spicy) salsa!! I love that they have more than just 1 vegetarian taco option, and you don't feel like they're just throwing a crappy substitute at you. The tacos are well thought out, and they offer late night service! Thank you, VT!

The atmosphere and employees make this a great place to visit. However the food is such a disgrace and shouldn’t even be considered “tacos”. This has to be the nastiest, most bland sad excuse of “Mexican food” I’ve had in my life. Also $17 for two nasty ass tacos, a tiny serving of elotes and a fountain drink? Please stick to your local taquerias!!!

Super friendly customer service, but the tacos….the tacos are absolutely phenomenal. I went to Austin for a conference, was told about this place and gave it a shot, now I can’t wait to go back to Austin for these tacos. Delicious and fresh with so much variety! A must visit for any taco lovers that visit Austin!

Food and atmosphere was amazing! Very much a friendly restaurant, both cashier and kitchen staff seemed to be very friendly and attentive! They were funny and broke everything down for us allowing us to make substitutions to everything including the queso blanco meaning it was all fresh made! And the red velvet cake was delicious! The tacos are very unique and extravagant! Unique tacos like chicken and waffles that had a spicy creamy sauce that is to die for! The queso blanco and the margaritas were also addicting! We wanted another one but be careful! They are strong!

We got a variety of tacos and can't say anything was impressive. Out 8 tacos, we had 3 that we would say we're pretty good. They were all average, had dry meat, sides were average. For the cost, there was a lot to be desired to want to come back.

So delicious! I stopped here on a trip to Austin last year, and it was on the top of my list this year as a reliable and tasty spot. The menu is fun and interactive, plus the combo was excellent. All the menu items are fun fusions, but even better they’re actually good. This visit, I was surprised by the speed of service, I had a time crunch to eat lunch and had time to spare.
Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are clearly marked with an exciting variety. Tasty!

I am staying in a nearby hotel and ventured out to Velvet Tacos last night around 8pm on a Monday. It was pretty dead and the team had the music up so loud it was hard to hear when ordering. The service was fine though it was clear that the team was more focused on cleaning to get out early from a dead night than a focus on the food.
Queso was fine, blue chips were nothing special. The tacos were not good though. Did two different ones in the combo and the ingredients were just above cold. The tortillas were wrong - flour instead of corn or opposite - and were not heated at all. I grew up in Austin and disappointed to see what passes for good tacos now.
Overall a VERY meh experience.

Very delicious and just feel good food.
Especially the maxi cali shrimp tacos and the red velvet cake were just perfection! it's a very nice and healthy option to different "fast food" chains. It has character.

I prefer OneTaco down the street. Velvet Taco was too fancy for me. The menu confused me and I didn’t feel I could customize the tacos to something more taqueria traditional.
