Vic and Al’s is something truly special. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re welcomed by an energy that feels alive…warm, inviting, and full of heart. The décor, the music, the atmosphere, every detail has been so thoughtfully created, and you can feel the love behind it all. The food is absolutely fantastic…every bite bursting with flavor and creativity. The bar menu is a mixologist’s dream. The staff was incredible — genuine, attentive, and passionate about making sure everyone feels at home. You can tell the owner has poured so much heart and soul into this place, and it shines through in every moment. Vic and Al’s isn’t just a restaurant…it’s a place where memories are made. I can’t recommend it enough! One of the highlights when I go visit my son!!

Was swindled into buying the large order of beignets and they were foul! What is the deal with this place. A weird alcohol flavor in them. Yuck.

Thank you, Ben, Trevor, and Glee, for making our Sunday brunch a fantastic outing. The energy of the people working here, the Austin-esque (even though this is a Cajun-themed eatery with Louisiana vibes throughout), the interior atmosphere of casual chic, scratch kitchen limited menu filled with goodies, and endless hospitality made my day.
It started with a free tasting of the refreshingly original cocktails. I settled on the vodka with freshly squeezed orange juice, lemon, and bitters. I ordered a Cajun version of chicken and waffles: chicken on beignets. Yes, this was a treat, calorie-rich, heavy on sugar, sweet and sour sauce on the "fried" chicken, a kind of dish I NEVER EAT. I enjoyed it, every bite, but walking out, I felt like a stone lodged in my stomach.
If you enjoy Cajun food and a local vibe don't miss Vic and Al's.

That atmosphere was lovely.
The drinks were amazing
I recommend looking at the menu online before coming it makes it easier because you have to order your food before being seated .
The food is pretty bland. I tried boudin burger was definitely underwhelming did not finish it . The red beans and rice just tasted like a can of ranch style beans . The chicken and beignets was okay it was very sweet and chicken was burnt . Everything came out and a decent time . The food was hot but not tasty .Also parking is very limited . The servers are very sweet. I would return only for a fresh cup of juice

Parking: There is limited parking lucky there are near by parking

This is a very charming establishment! Came here with friends for brunch. It’s a bit small and counter service but tables rotate quickly. The drinks are amazing!! The coffee martini is so rich.

I had the chicken with biscuits and my boyfriend had the catfish - both were great!! I think my chicken could’ve used a bit of salt but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The beignets are a must!

Will definitely be coming back.

Overall: 4.4/5 [dine in]

Vic & Al's is adjacent to the Vortex so we stopped by for a late night dinner. They have some parking in the front with a bit more in the back but there's street parking if they're all taken. Upon walking in, the restaurant has a market, antique, and moody vibe. They display fresh ingredients and spice jars on the right wall. When you check in, they ask you if it's your first time if it is, they explain the way their restaurant works which is 1) you put in your food order and open a tab, 2) move to the left and order a drink with the bartender, 3) grab your drinks and go to your assigned table, then 4) go to the check-in/bar to close our your tab. They have a different menu daily, serve super fresh food on these small metal lunch trays, and does last call for alcohol 15 minutes before closing.

Fried Shrimp Po'Boy ($19): The menu says $18 but they charged $19. The shrimps were big and had a thin batter layer. The bread was nicely toasted but the filling could use a bit of work. I think the filling portion was not enough and there wasn't enough flavors to bring this home.

Blackened Catfish With House Green Salad ($18): I loved this entree so much. Everything on this plate was delicious. Flavors & portion sizes were on point. I could eat this every day.

Hurricane ($11): A sweet and delicious cocktail—definitely a favorite!

Freeport Martini ($11): A bold, coffee-forward drink featuring cold brew. While I was hoping for some sweetness from the pecan bitters, it tasted more like straight black coffee. Not ideal for nighttime—it kept us awake for hours.

This is a very pricey place. I had the chicken and biscuits and it was good but not worth paying $18.00. The inside is cute and cool to see all the veggies and spices. It was very cold inside wish they would have turned the heat on. They also didn't have any warm drinks which would be nice.

Vic & Al's is a perfect date night spot or place to meet friends. When you want lunch or dinner to make a foodie happy, but want to keep the vibe chill and comfortable, head to Vic & Al's.

Their menu is Louisiana inspired dishes, they will always be warm and filling and full of flavor. The menu is small but well curated. Look for the standards like poboys, gumbo, and rice dishes. But half of the menu changes regularly.

Brunch at Vic & Al's on the weekends is a surprise too! Look for their various takes on beignets dishes and creole breakfast foods mixing savory and sweet.

I’ve been to Vic and Al’s three times now and each visit gets better and better! The food has so much flavor and I love the spice. I love their chicken gumbo and chicken & rice. Their cocktails are also delicious. Definitely a hidden gem!

Great food, friendly staff, good vibe. And if the food changes constantly then I'll be back a few more times.

Great food, fantastic service. I wish it was larger, but I will swap the smaller venue for the food and service.

Dietary restrictions: The server asks about dietary issues upfront and that was awesome because do have certain restrictions

So good I don’t want to tell anyone about it. Absolutely perfectly cooked Cajun eats with convenient ordering before you sit.

We had the corn dogs, fried chicken on rice, the pulled pork po boy, and the beignets. I also had a hurricane (imo a must have at a Cajun place).

The corn dogs are like the best drive thru corn dogs of my childhood.

The fried chicken is perfectly cooked with a thin, crispy breading and juicy meat.

The po boy bread and pork were crispy without being greasy and the slaw balances it out the way only a chef with a great palette can.

And if I’m honest I’ll probably drive across town just to order those freaking beignets on the regular.

One of my favorite Austin finds in a year or two. Will be back!
