Dirty, has really gone down hill the past few years since they sold it to a corporation. They also couldn’t accept our gift card, and even though it had $25 on it they offered one ticket for it, and the manager was rude and condescending about it all. We don’t want to go back.
Great venue – – including good food and drink. I come here a lot and I’ll keep coming to see films.
Went to Violet Crown last week for a matinee - the theatre was filthy and the back bar/kitchen areas visible to guests were so run down. One person working every station and they were out of so much stock: fresh popcorn, appetizers, and half the draft offerings. Pizza was fine, but bartender didn't know how to use the espresso machine and then botched validating parking so had to pay $26 to get out of the deck.
End of the day it was over $100 for a day date that was disappointing across the board. Used to love coming here because it felt like it was managed by people that were really passionate about cinema, but seems like new owners have let it go. 2 stars are for the friendly (if not well informed) service.
Honestly such a bad experience. Objectively bad, overpriced pizza, several broken seats in the theater, and they didn't validate my parking properly, so I ended up paying $26 for parking at the gate after watching a movie in an uncomfortable, broken seat. I hadn't been to this theater in nearly a decade and I don't think I could recommend it to anyone.
The staff is friendly. Nothing against them or their service.
Nice small independent theater.
Love this place. The staff are very friendly and I really like the smaller theater sizes. One thing to I wish I had known is they will validate parking if you park in the parking garage that's in the same building as the theater.
Great experience! Drinks, food, movies, and they will validate your parking garage pass too! Just Ask! Staff was very helpful and friendly!
Last minute decision as we spent the night from out of town. Love this little theatre.
I love the Violet Crown! Several wonderful movie experiences here. The seats are comfortable, screens are amazing. But....I went to see F1 and I will say the movie was fantastic,....what I was able to see of it uninterrupted.
The group of guys next to me and the row in front of us basically had a full-on pizza party with swapping drinks the entire movie, stacking plates loudly in the seat next to me, talking, and completely disregarding that there were other people in the theatre. At some point the guy next to me starts doing yoga stretches on the edge of his seat and continuously waving his arms and making noises. I cannot make this up.
To blame the theatre is not my intention, but I hope anyone who reads this knows this is just gross behaviour and don't be like these people in a theatre. Stay home and rent the movie if this how you act in public cinema spaces.
A great cinema location for downtown Austin movie watching! Easy to find and a great selection of foods to enjoy too! Never drive, so I can’t comment on parking, but walking or riding a bike is very convenient!

Place is awesome, not huge theaters so they feel private. Only issue I had was parking. But definitely my favorite place in Austin Texas no doubt to catch a movie.
1st row is the way to go! Love the flashback cinema and validated parking.
Amazing range of movies, got to see a one of showing of a film from an independent artist
Projector and speakers need updating. Movie wasn’t centered so that was distracting. Pizza was ok but not great. Soda choices were very limited. Popcorn was ok but not as good as other theaters.
Honestly, I never do this, yet I believe people need to know about how bad it is here. Diana Wang was someone I went to previously and I followed her to this new location in private practice. She listened to you and really cared. Something has changed unfortunately with this new organization.
You are treated like a piece of meat in this office and if you are uninsured you are charged a lot more money then what they would charge insurance. The office is gorgeous and some of the staff are very friendly, yet, every time I went in I waited for hours even when I was early to appointments!!
When I had concerns I was gaslit and made to feel like I was an issue. Even when I had an infection they made me feel like I was an inconvenience to them. Their prices are outrageous and the care is not to help you it is to make as much money as possible off of you. I would not recomend my enemy to go to this place. It is awful. I did see some recent reviews that were very close to the same tone and somehow those are all gone...
