A dog friendly area in Austin that sells food and drinks? What’s not to love! We decided to stop by Yard Bar looking for a nice chill spot to spend a Sunday afternoon with our dog and here’s what we found: parking is decent and the exterior of the place looks very nice and clean, the interior is very much the same. Like all other dog bars they do charge a fee to have your dog go into their dog park area but not for their general eating area. The fee is about $13 and you do have to fill out information there so be aware of that. We opted not to go into the dog park there as it was too hot and there weren’t many dogs inside. From the outside it also looked like there wasn’t too much shade for the dogs but again, hard to confirm as we didn’t actually go in.
They have water bowls available to grab your dog some water in the back which is a plus. When seated we ordered some food to get things started. We got a turkey dog, kids grilled cheese, and a chicken sandwich. You order up at the window and then they bring it out to you at your table which is nice. The food was a pretty big miss though, the kids grilled cheese was half a grilled cheese, which while we understand it’s a kids version, it’s just cheese and bread, give a full one. The turkey dog was a hit, at least with our dog cause he scarfed it down. The chicken sandwich on the other hand was awful. It came with about 7 pickles which made no sense, it was also a bit burnt and way too salty. If we hadn’t paid like $13 for it, we probably wouldn’t have finished it. To be honest with you, Yard Bar does not feel like a standout spot. If you’re going to pay the money for the experience you may as well go to Mutts, which in our opinion is a much nicer experience.
Not dog friendly to those who have service dogs that aren't spayed because it isn't safe because of their age/breed. Thank you for turning us away 😒
I love love Yard Bar and my dogs love Yard Bar x3,000. It is two dogs per person in, so my husband and I switch off while the other stays outside at Camp Out with our 9 month old. The food and draft beers are great. The dogs get exhausted and the staff are sooooo friendly. We love it!!!
Well run place, I hope it stays open, as there aren't many like it up North.
Beware of the hidden holding charge they place on your card. Mine was $34.64. There were no signs in place to give you any heads up. I did not authorize this charge & zero employees informed me of this. I found out 2 days after my visit from my account online. I had to ask for a manager to find out what & why. The $ goes back to me in UP TO 7 DAYS, but seriously?! Please inform your customers about $ you plan to place on hold from them. ( Their money ) Unfortunately this will be the reason I never go back. Otherwise I enjoyed it.
I'll gladly change this to a 5 when the music changes. This constant pop playlist is driving me nuts after a month or so...
We love bringing our two dogs to the Yard Bar! The staff is so friendly, there’s plenty of shaded tables to sit at and watch all the dogs play. I highly recommend!
Called ahead to ask if they had a separate fenced off area for dogs to be off leash. Was given straightforward info and the person over the phone was friendly. Got here and then was told about all the rules to enter and that the kitchen area doesn’t open till 4pm. Wow. What a waste of my time. I guess I should have asked for more info over the phone but it also would been nice to have the person over the phone explain that there’s a “visit fee” per dog and that lunch wouldn’t be served till later in the afternoon. Or they could have at least said to check on the website for the rules before coming.
Besides that it looks like a place my dog and I would have enjoyed.

I must say if you aren't a regular you won't feel welcome at this facility. The regulars all sit and drink and then speak negativity to new people making them feel unwelcome. Most embarrassing experience of my life today as this is my third time taking our dogs here and never an issue before. My Jack Russell was doing just fine until the park attendant who was supposed to be by the gate as new dogs came in was not doing there job and of course a JACK RUSSELL is going to be hyper and curious of the new dogs coming in. I immediately ran to the gate to help ellieviate the situation and another lady, who was really nice came to help. The good one boys club just sat and kept drinking before shouting "take your dog to the small dog park.". My dog to Doggy Daycare 4 times a week and does great with other dogs.
Definately not the way to allow your regulars to treat other dog owners rudely especially as they let their dogs bite on other dogs and make them feel cornered.
Very very saddened by this situation and completely humiliated.
After recommending this place to countless other people I will make sure people take their business and pups elsewhere.

Bark Rangers can keep everything chill and my little Malinois got comfortable early in the day. If you go on really crowded days only bring very socialized dogs.

Terrible Terrible place.
Go to Mutts Cantina where they actually care about you and especially your pups. This place and employees only care about the drunk regulars that go in. Bye Felicia. 👋

We went here with our chihuahua and we were coming into the yard part, when the person said that we couldn’t come in because my 11 year old daughter couldn’t come in. In fact the age limit is 21. The lady told us it was because of the alcohol in the main area, but the people in the separate, boring area were drinking alcohol too. However, their food was outstandingly delicious. We ordered french fries and a salad, the fries were great and they came with a garnish and a sauce that went really well with it. The salad was delicious too, so we ordered a second one. The dog treats were WAY overpriced, but they were mostly sold out too, and I understand why. The only thing left was the doggy meatballs. I saw in the comments that lots of people were complaining about the meatballs being “to cold” or “barely thawed” and that was true, but I think our dog liked them more like that, because it was a pretty warm day. Our dog looooved them. I looked closely, and it looked like there was salmon and eggs (maybe eggs) in it, so I’m glad there’s real meat in there. Anyway, the adults in my small group were gonna go into the dog area, when the lady said that you had to pay 10 bucks just to sit at a picnic table! We also had to give them our email and information to set up a whole account. Seriously, we just wanted to have our dog play and have fun with other dogs. Next time, we’ll just go to a dog park…

Paid entry fee. Spent about 10 minutes inside before I had to leave due to my dog being attacked twice by a large pit mix. Won’t be returning if they allow aggressive dogs inside.
